you would be better off to see if Calgary would swap Monahan for Drouin. no?

Point of this is more to trade a positive asset plus a b prospect for a negative asset in order to pry Pelletier from Calgary.

Unless you are trading your 1st this year or Suzuki, there is nothing Montreal has that could make Calgary consider moving Pelletier

These are they types of comments that make you just shake your head. Calgary would take that offer and you know it. Hell I would be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts they would do Mysak For Monahan + Peltier right now.

How is Dvorak an upgrade on Monahan? The Cap hit is the only difference between the two and that difference is not Pelletier - especially when Monahan's cap is only for 1 more season.

Edmonton declines. I don't see any reason why they should give up a perennial 50-point defenseman for a failed forward.

I would really shocked about that. Pelletier is a point per game player in the AHL as a 20 year old(jsut turn 21). Mysak is a point per game player in the OHL.
Im a Hab fan and I just don't see the value from a flames perspective.

I honestly don't even want the Habs to trade Drouin. he's a lock to get you 40 points with the upside to get you 55+ if things when his way. You trade him and then you are then automatically looking for another 40/50 point winger. I dont like the Cap but he only has 2 years left on this.

Dumping Monahan while picking up a capable middle 6 center. Mysak is just a little bit extra on top. If you think this deal is about a Mysak swap for Pelletier then you missed the point.

Wow, if you don’t think Dvorak is an upgrade over Monahan after how Monahan has played the last 2 seasons then there is nothing left to say.

No I don't think I have. I'm just saying, Mysak and Dvorak doesn't get you a failing player in Monahan(when he only has what a season left on that contract after this one) and by the looks of it, an A prospect.
If I was the flames, I would say No, wait till his last season and if needed buy him out(if its needed), not lose a good prospect in Pelletier.

If Dallas were in Tampa's shoes, where they were almost guaranteed a 1st Round pick in the late 20's or 30's then they might consider that Petry trade, but Dallas isn't in that position.

They could have a pick in the early-mid 20's just as realistically as they could have a top-10 pick next year. Not trading a 1st Round Pick for Petry with that kind of uncertainty hovering over the team

The point is to dump Monahan at the cost of Peltier it would only return a slightly less prospect. Peltier is doing great in the AHL but the AHL does not add much more value than a prospect doing equally as well in the OHL. Until either of them prove anything at the NHL level neither are worth much more than the other.

There is a bug difference in the AHL and OHL. Being a ppg AHL rookie does increase the value alot.

Yall are crazy for thinking this is realistic at all. Flames aren't trading Pelletier to dump Monahan unless there is a very good player coming back, and that ain't Dvorak.

After seeing all the toffoli trades some of you guys put up I shouldn't be supprised. Habs fans constantly saying flames fans are overvaluing pelletier, while still constantly making trade proposals for him.

I wasn't one of the people trading Toffoli for Peltier + 1st + (I did do this once but when told that Peltier was a top prospect I did not do any more), In fact I had the trade as a 1st + Cap offset + good but not top prospect. I did say that there was a difference but I do not believe it is as significant as you believe it is. If it was then Dauphin who has 16 points in 18 AHL games this season (almost a ppg) would have more value than Coronato and we both know that is not true. Mysak is a very good prospect, you should watch a few of his games. Sure he is only in jr hockey but considering this is his first year in N.A. and he is a PPG player that shows just how good he is and can be. BTW here is where experts were projecting him to go headed into his draft.

Experts Craig Button and Bob McKenzie have Mysak ranked 34th. Elite Prospects has Mysak as their 29th best prospect, Future Considerations has him at 16th, ISS Hockey has him at 25th, and McKeen's Hockey has him at 27th.

You are kidding right? That offer is laughable and Calgary would never consider it. Get over it Habs fans you arent getting Pelletier. Mysek is not that good of a prospect
