Allen has barely better stats this year than Mrazek. Throwing a 1st away for an equally mediocre player is really dumb

Part of the cost is to get rid of Mrazek's longer and more expensive contract. If you think Allen isn't good, you haven't been watching him.

I have watched him a lot, he's a grossly unremarkable player. His career stats are very close to Allen's. GM's aren't fickle fans. Mrazek will not be judged on a small sample size of this season. So no this trade is just a Hab fan dreaming of ripping off the Leafs. All this will do is get you a 1st for no discernable drop in play.

Or the Leafs could spend less in moving Mrazek by not taking someone back and sign Husso. They end up with more/better assets and the better goalie.

i don't think a goalie will willingly sign for toronto (without gross overpayment) after what happened after mrazek, andersen and how campbell has been treated.

That's nice but we've seen differently. Where Husso likely wouldn't sign is Montreal. He's going to want to be the starter and while you might have deleted Price off the roster, that isn't the state of things in reality. Husso would always be second chair to the guy making 10 mil aav, not a good opportunity to show what he's got or earn the big dollar starter contract as his next deal, and basically the same situation he's in in St Louis behind Binnington. Leafs could offer him a bigger opportunity on the big stage and save themselves assets while doing it.

Campbell is loved, Mrazek just hasn't been good and Andersen wanted too much money. All have been treated well

i tottaly agree with you but this agm is based on price not comming back so i don't see your point. and with price we really don't know how it will end. he was supposed to be out for a few week at the start of the season but missed the whole season

mrazek a once good goalie came to tor and started being ****, andersen get out of toronto and becomes one of the best goalie in the league and finally, from memory of tweets on twiter, campbell had a few bad game during the season and received abuse from the fans. Toronto doesn't seem like the best place to go for a goalie

He is an average goalie, Mrazek has been as good over his career as Allen has.

I would say a 3rd hence the reason he is more of a throw in to this deal. The major part being Toronto gets rid of Mrazek, that would/should be worth a 1st + 2nd on its own adding the 2nd + Allen brings it to Niemela's value. Remember the Leafs are saving about 4.8 Mil in overall cap space, plus getting the better goalie out of it.

More of the same, Canadians fans think other teams are taking their iffy contracts and not send cap to back to Montreal, just so Montreal can sign UFAs.....fantasy.
Still a big hope that 18m of cap stays on LTIR.
