Flyers Need to Blow it Up

Created by: johum7
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 31, 2022
Published: Mar. 31, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Only real way for this team to do anything in the next decade is to tear it apart right now and get as many assets as possible. 18 million dollar 4th line rise up!

CGY dumps Monahan and Lucic and gets 1C in Couturier, and a good depth/4C. They still have cap space for Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapane, and filling out their roster. Completely unrealistic given Couturier's injury, but a fun experiment nonetheless

BOS gets a 2C and 2RW to play with Hall/Marchand. Some cap dumps would still be needed but this is a more than doable situation for the Bruins

OTT gets a good middle 6 forward for a solid price, will help them on their road to unprecedented success, whatever that is

LA gets a big upgrade on the left side, and if Provorov plays with Doughty, that would be a great defense pair

STL gets a great two-way defenseman and a good two-way forward. Bit of a steep price, but Sanheim can comfortably play the tough minutes, and at half salary cap

TOR gets a very good (and cheap) bottom pair defenseman

VGK gets a depth forward nothing because I hate MacEwen, that's the only reason for this trade

That Calgary trade looks great for both sides. Don't think the Kings would trade their top C prospect and a first for a struggling D though.

First thing PHI needs to do is fire Chuck Fletcher, then go from there

Two seconds for Debrusk is not worth it at all for Ottawa. Nowhere near the level of impact talent Ottawa needs to be targeting.

The Blues have no use for Lindblom and you're not getting Neighbours. Try again.

why wouldn't they? DeBrusk wants out, Hayes and Atkinson at 4 million each isn't exactly bad and they both would put up 50 points with good defensive play. Clifton is the only aspect of it that might questionable given his cap hit, but Forbort would be a replacement in that spot in the trade

I figure LA wouldn't go for it, but I've seen it more than a few times on here and on Twitter so I went with it

Adding Lindblom would give the Blues a great top 9. He struggled in the first 20 games of the season, but since then he's been playing just like he was before his cancer diagnosis. I know Neighbours has a lot of value, but you wouldn't get Sanheim at half his cap hit for a 1st and some slum prospect

Heh. This is your AGM, not mine. And I have no idea what you're on about with Lindblom, the guy has 1 goal in 10... three in 15... five in 20... six in 25... he's hardly back to where he was AND most importantly, the Blues' top 9 is more than full. It's easily in the league top three. Lindblom would be a 4th liner on the Blues, if that, and he's not suited to 4th line play. The Blues have no use for him, and if anybody sneaks into the top nine it will be Neighbours.

for me it depends if we some how manage to win the cup then no i think Bs will just start their retool but if we don't there is a few factors that i think that if happened they would consider.

1. bergy resigns cheap 5 mill or less with larger performance bonuses so we have more cap space
2. replace cliffy for forbort so we have more cap
3. we move reilly and nosek as well to clear more cap

then i think they would consider
Lines would be

Marchy-Bergy-Atkinson
Hall- Hayes/ Haula- Pasta
Haula/ Hayes - Coyle- Smith
Fliggy- Freddy- X

Lindholm- Chucky
Grzzz- Carlo
X - Cliffy

that is a pretty strong top 9 and top 4

then they just look for cheap 4th liner 3rd pair UFAs like
M. Staal, Sturm, ZAR some good defensive physical players

could also probably find a taker for Foligno, which could let you keep Reilly if needed and having a much stronger defensive core, leaving you ~3 million in cap space for a 4th line winger and depth players if Lazar was re-signed cheap

Marchand-Bergeron-Atkinson
Hall-Hayes-Pastrnak
Haula-Coyle-Smith
Frederic-Lazar-xxx

Lindholm-McAvoy
Grzelcyk-Carlo
Reilly-Clifton

ya exactly im not opposed to this trade
Hayes is from boston and atkinson played at Boston College so it would be a rather large homecoming trade and even though atkinson hasn't being scoring at his usual rate the previous few seasons this season he has looked better and i think with the first line he would be capable of reaching 30+ again and then for hayes i think his large size and net front presence would be good for that line i could see him producing around 20-25 goals and 30-35 assists

playing on a line with Hall and Pastrnak (or Marchand for that matter), he's a 25-35 guy at least. He's not exactly the guy you want to be leading a line, but if he's the 3rd guy? That'd be tasty. Only concern is his injuries this season, which (so far) haven't affected his play at all

I was more so looking at his play, no one on the Flyers has been scoring, and his pre-diagnosis shooting just isn't sustainable. Also, with Perron being a UFA at years end, I figured Lindblom would make a good bit of sense

I think they'll just re-sign Frenchy.
