Trades
1.
CHI
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Hawks need to clear spots on the blue line for the kids. Mitchell, Regula, Galvas, Beaudan, Philips all deserve their shot at proving if they are ready for the NHL full time. 2 of Mccabe, C. Jones, and Stillman need to be moved. Mccabe is a Bowman signing that I could see Davidson moving on from early
2.
CHI
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Same reasoning as Mccabe trade
EDM
  1. Jones, Caleb [RFA Rights]
  2. 2022 6th round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Kieth retires, Jones returns to fill his place. At worst a cheap depth piece for the Oilers they have familiarity with
3.
CHI
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Hawks are kinda in a bind here. I doubt they want to pay the QO and have him clog up a spot for the youth in hopes he recoups his value. KD probably leaves it to some other team to take that chance. I don't see Kubalik worth more than a 3rd anymore based on how he's played.
WPG
  1. Kubalik, Dominik [RFA Rights]
4.
CHI
  1. Hill, Adin
Additional Details:
Cheap plug in net while Soderblom continues to develop. Soderblom probably gets 10-15 games in the NHL to see if he's ready, and Comesso is still a few years away. Hawks need to plug up the net in the meantime
SJS
  1. 2023 4th round pick (CHI)

What is Kubalik's QO? 4 mil? If he was willing to sign for less than his QO, I think the Jets would be interested.

I think Hill is still worth a late 3rd. but chicago is a good choice for him.

I wouldn’t scratch Johnson. Maybe just trade him with some retention to the highest bidder

I am certain we can get one of your 2022 3rd's for Hill. There will be better offers.

I completely agree with the need to move defensemen. After the season CHI's had, I would honestly be fine with it if our entire D were rookies next season. Not going to happen, but I wouldn't be opposed. haha.

But that is also coming from someone that is totally open to moving anyone, at this point... even Cat. I am even in favor of selling low on Jones just to get him out of CHI. If we were a contending team with a proper D partner for him, that would be another story. But a rebuilding team has zero need for Seth Jones services.

I like the idea of playing the young guys, but to this extent could be a problem for their development. An example is the 3rd line which is full of young players that are trying to prove themselves after down or slow years. The best thing to do is to find a veteran winger or experienced player for dach and Kurashev on that 3rd line, which I believe is the best for their development. If we want Dach and Kurashev to take the next step.

4 mil, yes. I think if he's willing to sign for less the hawks take the chance and sign him themselves. Could be any team in the trade not just jets

Not in favor of moving debrincat or selling low on Jones. The only untouchables in the entire system I see as Debrincat, Jones, Dach, Reichel. I would listen on anything else basically.

Kayumov is a wild card but he's also no rookie. He's 24 and has been playing against men in the KHL for a while

in a rebuild, cap space is the most important thing. we would be able to pick up bad contracts and etc to speed it up.

you're right, but I would prefer a more established player. Josh Baily for example could be a cap dump that we pick up and get assets for and play him with dach.

Just a minor quibble, but Jake McCabe's possession numbers are in Zdeno Chara territory this year (42-43% CF, about 5-6% worse than their teammates.) When you add that he's still got 3x$4M left on that deal, it's hard to be stoked about giving up a pick that'll be around 45 for that profile. I'd just as soon throw that term & AAV at Ian Cole and see if he bites to play LD2 for the Isles next year.

That is completely an understandable stance to take. I just question whether or not Cat's point totals are sustainable, especially if you remove Kane from the equation. Which, he still does a lot of other things on the ice that are great. But $9mil + great? I don't think so. Sell high on Cat, now.

As for Jones, he needs proper D partner and to be playing for a contender. He is gonna waste his prime on a rebuilding team and become an anchor later on. At which time, everyone will be calling for his head. We need to forget what Bowman gave up for him, and just get what we can for him now... but within reason. If low means we aren't even getting a 1st in the package, then just keep him. But then we need to consider moving Murphy. I don't really like Murphy on the left side and we probably shouldn't have both of them clogging up the right side.

Cat is the future captain, I just don't see it happening unless some team blows us away. And Jones is only 27. He will still be playing very good hockey and in his prime in say 3-4 years when we're breaking out of this rebuild

Again, your stance is understandable. It is all certainly possible and I wouldn't complain if Davidson made those bets. But I also wouldn't complain if he ripped it all apart and started from scratch, as long as the returns were fair.

yes, we should pick up more contracts like that so that we can get assets in return for the bad cap hit and hope that we can bring the players value back up, which hasn't happened with Johnson

You don't take on bad contracts just to buy them all out and take more lol. Thats not how it works
