I’d like to stay away from husso and get a more proven goalie

Not sure why the Ducks would target Geno. He doesn't fit the timeline at all and the Ducks would probably prefer to keep the money for the big 3 RFAs next summer if the player they get for $8M is almost 37 and bound to decline.

As an Oiler fan i totally get that, but there are very few "proven" goaltenders out there that are actually available.

Agreed, its not likely. But on his podcast Friedman recently talked about how the Ducks could make a big splash this free agency if they wanted to keep some of their Important vets who arent really interested in sticking around for a full rebuild(mainly Gibson). Malkin is older but is still playing at a point per game pace and he could be great leadership wise for 2 or 3 yrs. Also.... The Ducks have a ton of cap space.

Shocking that an Oilers fan thinks Gaudreau is gonna take a discount with a non-contender so that Calgary can spend 4M on their 3rd pair

Bergeron is a center, giroux a winger.

I would bump up Forsberg at least a million.
Doubt Gaudreau even looks at Detroit, I think its philly or calgary.
Giroux should still cost more. He’s over a point per game with florida.
Perron should get close to double that.
I think Klingberg is more like a $5.5M guy.

Your money is way too low, On Copp, R Strome and Trocheck. Trocheck gets around $6,500,000 per and Copp and Strome at least $5,500,000 per if not slightly higher. the rest look okay i guess.

Not unless we offer him $13,000,000 x 7 years. even then there are still far better options out there.

Geno isn't signing with Anaheim, He actually grew up as a Red Wings fan same with Filip Forsberg.

I wouldnt underestimate Yman's negotiating skills and the fact that Detroit is going to be a contender much sooner than expected.
Guadreau-Larkin-Raymond would look damn good.

Klingberg to NSH? I always thought Ekholm - Klingberg would be a great pairing, but NSH can’t afford that kind of salary. Pass.

Hey if anyone can convince Johnny Hockey to play in Detroit, it's definitely Steve Yzerman.

This isnt an actual roster for an actual team so i was not concerned with having them in the right spots.
Philly has no cap space for Johnny hockey, they would have to move out some serious cap space. I think NJ is a likely spot for him.
If Perron wants alot more money than that then he will likely have to move on from St Louis and im not sure he would want that
Agreed Klingberg is not worth $8mill/per, but rumors say he wants $8 mill and Dallas was not willing to do that, hence the trade request.

Nash could actually afford it, but they wont because their owner is cheap. They do need a top 4 RHD man tho.

I actually think he will end up in NJ for around the same amount. But I put Detroit because i think ppl underestimate Yman's negotiating skills and the fact that Detroit is going to be a contender much sooner then expected.

Just because a player wants something doesn’t mean they’ll get it.

Why NJ for Gaudreau?

Why New Jersey and Detroit? He has no connection to either team. Calgary can literally offer him the same AAV and an 8th year, thats 9.5M more dollars. If a team other than Calgary wants Gaudreau it will very likely cost 11M

Fav team growing up was Philly, but he did indeed grow up in NJ.... they are basically on top of each other so pardon the confusion. But again, Philly has no cap room for a $9-10 mill contract.... They would have to trade away some serious contracts to make room and with the amount of teams in the league lacking cap space im not sure they get that done.

NJ is his home town state and they have plenty of cap space. Philly i guess would be his number 1 choice as apparently it was his fav team growing up, but they dont have the space.

Well, no. He grew up a stones throw from philly, and a couple hours drive away from the devils. A canadian comparison…this would be like saying someone from gatineau’s hometown team is the habs because its in Quebec…but it’s literally next to Ottawa. Gaudreau grew up next to the flyers, and pretty far from Newark. The caps, rangers, and islanders, are as much a hometown team as the devils.

Teams can make cap space. Use a pick to move JVR. Done.

He grew up 2.5 hours away from the Devils and right across the river from Philly. Saying "its his hometown state" is like saying people from Gatineau should cheer for the Habs instead of the Sens (which fyi is the exact same distance away for both teams respectively).

Also how does Jersey have cap space? Hughes is eating almost the entirety of Subban's cap hit and Bratt is getting a massive raise. Like pretty much everyone but Anaheim they would have to make quite a few roster changes to add him but they need to figure out their goaltending first

Just my opinion but a like the looks of the Jersey team better than Flyers for the next seven years. Everything else being equal, Jersey looks appealing.
I don't see Calgary being able to resign Gaudreau despite the eight year contract. He's given all he can with Calgary, and unless they make the Cup final...time to move on.
