People wont be happy with the coach I would hire

Created by: Wpgman
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: May 8, 2022
Published: May 8, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jets have 2 years with this bunch to go far but they are missing 2 major things- A good coaching staff and a Top pairing RHD.
Head Coach- Has to be a coach with experience and a winning track record. I know I am going to get the gears for this but I think Babcock would fit this need. He is still on Toronto's payroll so that will have to be straighten out but I think he has learnt from the errors of the past and he would be itching to be a head coach in the big league again.
1RHD- Schmidt was a gamble to fit this bill but really what did Chevy expect for just a 3rd rounder? The Jets don't need a flashy defensemen but just a solid 1RHD like Severson.
Still have 5 mil to improve the bottom 6 forwards.

At that point you might as well bring in torts lol.

I think bringing Babcock in would be a bad idea as the jets usually try to build long term relationships. Maurice, Chevy and many others like huddy have been kept around for a long tenure. A coach like babcock could never have such a long shelf life.

Babcock has been shown he's an awful person...to be in charge of men. But he was also just a terrible game manager. There are hundreds of better coaching options.

I would do that trade as a Devils fan, but that is also me not believing in the Jets, especially with Babcock.

I guess it's not impossible, but highly unlikely. I think the game and players have kind of passed Babcock by. Plus I can't see him fitting in with True North at all.

It will be interesting who the next head coach will be? In 2 years Wheeler will be gone but I hope Scheilele and Hellybuyck will still be around but that will only come with success.

Jets still light a top 6 forward, never replaced the laine hole. This squad has upgraded 2c, but still missing an elite scorer, even the pp replacement. Could also use a severson, but would be worried that 23 pick could be in lottery

If he is back in the NHL he knows it will be his last chance. Sounds like being the coach of the U of S that he has learnt his lesson.

If Chevy hires Babs then the Jets need some players who are realgud pros who play heavy. Put the foot on the gas and play a full 60. Get a tough guy who can help keep the flies off.

I don't think we will replace the offensive hole that Laine left but a new coaching unit must improve the pp and the moral of our top players. Most Jets fans at the start of the year were very high on the Jets and most people point the problem to the coaching staff to why they never made the playoffs.

I hate that Severson trade. Also Schmidt has absolutely no value

It’ll be someone with ties to the organization. Scott Arneil, Randy Carlyle, Pascal Vincent, someone along those lines. James Patrick would be someone I’d consider heavily if the ice have a deep playoff run.

Babcock is an awful choice. Jets need a communicator who can bring in strong systems.

The new coach must be new to the organization. Someone who will have the players play for him and the team. Patrick would be my choice for the defense coach.

For the love of god stop with the schmidt to Detroit trades. He's not good and his contract is terrible. You're going to have to pay to get someone to take him or swap for another bad contract

Well now that trotz got fired I’d almost guarantee that’s who the jets target.

He could be the one and since he doesn't come with any baggage, Trotz head coach, Patrick assistant (defense), and Wade F goaltending. But who to get for the guys up front especially the pp?

Yeah you’d need to bring in an offensive specialist to help with PP. I’m not sure who that guy is.
