Trading for the 1 pick

Description
I was making this ACGM yesterday, hoping for the Devils/Sens to win the lottery since those two have been reportedly interested in Fiala. Devils also have the Hughes/Hischier-duo already in place, so they could theoretically be interested in trading down instead of drafting another centre. Well, Montreal won the rights to Shane Wright, but NJD was close. :D This is by no means realistic, please don't get too offended. Montreal winning means this is basically not a possibility anymore - they don't have that big of a need for Fiala. I just don't want to let a good narrative go to waste.

Tell me what needs to be added for the values to work. I, personally, don't think this is too outrageous of a proposal.

MTL need Wright more than Fiala
We don’t have the money to sign Fiala anyway

I agree. But you have to agree this trade would break the league wink

I think Minnesota would definitely have to add. Maybe something involving Rossi could work out? Not sure tho

Definitely not Rossi. He is our best prospect. It's not that big of a difference in value.

I doubt it. The upgrade from Rossi to Wright is not that big in my opinion. Fiala has to be included and Fiala+Rossi would be an overpay.

MTL needs Wright more than they need Fiala. I could see NJ trading their 2nd overall for that offer, as they need Fiala more than they need Cooley.

MIN still get a top prospect center.

The difference between the Wild’s 1st and Habs 1st is greater in value than the 2nd overall pick

(17.7 - 3.2 = 14.5 > 12.3)

(If you subscribe the draft pick value chart)

Honestly I think I'd prefer Cooley over Wright. Crazy, I know, but I think Cooley plays a more dynamic game, his offensive ceiling is higher, he plays a very good two-way game, and his compete level is very good. He is also great on faceoffs. I really don't think New Jersey would trade their pick and would opt for Slafkovsky, but if they're still willing to move it for Fiala (with us adding), Cooley would be exactly what we need.

you are saying Fiala who's played like crap and a 1st without Rossi or Boldy is worth it for a rebuilder getting Bedard? May I ask what you are smoking? I'd like some of that.

Not disagreeing on the premise of what you said, but you think a player who is 25, was 1.04 PPG and had 85 points on the season, played like crap?

If you're referring to the playoffs, he assisted on both Kaprizov goals tonight and now has 3 points in 5 games. Does he need to get going, yes, but he played better tonight and hopefully he wakes up Thursday night.

Bedard? My guy the 2022 Draft needs to finish first before we talk about Bedard. And if you think scoring 85 points and 33 goals while posting semi-solid defensive numbers is crap, I don't know what to tell you. Give me what you're smoking!

I'm referring to his streakiness. And bad defense. and as far as Advanced Stats his teammate to competition ratio tells a story of him being borderline carried. Not absolute crap yes crap this series, but also statistics have told a very very different story.

so even better you think Shane Wright is worth Fiala and a mid to late first i don't know what to tell you. Oh sure 85 points and 33 goals when statistically 20 percentile on defense, and the fact competition level is below 2nd Line average (His average TOI) makes him elite. basic stats say almost nothing in the grand scheme of things. competition level is below percentile of quality teammates as well. Which for a fact shows he's borderline carried. So yes, advanced stats do show he's crap, and its showing in this playoff series.
