Hard pass from ANA, Ducks probably dont even move just 10OA for Fiala

If the Wild want Pastujov to be the prospect, the pick attached would be the COL 2nd in 2023 at the highest if not a third

Even then I dont see the Ducks trading Pastujov, the best prospect the Ducks offer is probably Brayden Tracey

There's been a pretty interesting debate when it comes to Ducks fans and the potential acquisition of Fiala.

On one hand, he'd be a great add. On the other, does it push the timeline enough to move potential high end futures a year early for?

I'm personally in the camp of "Let's do it, BUTTTTTT, there needs to be a clear plan this offseason to upgrade the defence as well, otherwise, we might as well wait for 365 days and continue to amass assets."

The great thing about Fiala is that his age absolutely puts him in the teams timeline, and a Fiala-Zegras-Terry line would theoretically be a heck of a lot of fun. That being said, while Dallas Eakins is still coaching, I can't see this team taking a big step forward, and I don't know that I'm crazy about giving him tools if he's going to continue to throw together the most ridiculous, loss inducing lines that have ever been seen (Grant-Zegras-Mayhew?!?!! Jesus).

Just imagine the thought of Fiala-Grant-Letteri as our top line every night tears of joy

Yeah I am not quite sure about this trade makes absolutely no sense from the Wilds perspective break up one of the most dominate shut down lines in the NHL for a 5'8" 4th rounder? Is this Farrell the next Caufield or Jonny Hockey?

Los Angeles is probably willing to pay Alex Turcotte and the 19th overall pick, which is better than any combination we can put together with the Boston first (hopefully, the 22nd overall) and Tracey or someone not named McTavish or Pastujov.

Or Perreault/Zellweger to the not named list

Just out of curiosity, are you personally hoping the Kings land Fiala (assuming it’s a fair value price both parties like)?

Agreed, plus Zellweger. I don't know...Fiala is absolutely likely worth the price long term, there just needs to be a plan around filling the rest of the holes as well or it's just a bullet that we've prematurely fired off.

Honestly, I've got no problem doing something if there's a plan for 1-2 years...but if it's anything else, not so much.

Yeah, I realized after my initial response that I'd forgotten about Perreault. Not sure about Zellweger, though.

Personally, I'd prefer to land Chychrun, but the price might be higher. Adding both Fiala and Chychrun and signing Fiala long-term would be a problem with the cap, because it would probably mean having to move Alex Iafallo and someone else.

Zellweger has the highest points per game by a D(draft year)+1 defenseman in the last 20 years with at least 20 games played, highest D+1 equivalency among Dmen since Adam Fox at harvard, and Zellweger is 7 months younger than Fox at that time.

After McTavish he's the most untouchable prospect we have imo

Yeah, I don't buy that he's going to have quite the same development as Fox, who benefitted from 3 years at Hahhhhhvahd, but I do think he has some pretty fun potential. Seems like a Tyson Barrie type floor, but prospects will inevitably break our hearts, so who knows. He's a couple of years away regardless, but also yeah, I wouldn't move him unless it was in a huge deal.

Oh 100%, not saying he becomes Fox at all, But ceiling wise Zellweger arguably has the highest out of any defense prospect in the league. Prospects rarely hit their ceilings obviously but between McTavish, Zellweger and Pastujov, the Ducks most recent draft has the potential to be the best class the franchise has seen

Makes sense, I can see why Chych would be the preferred option. Was just curious. I think there’s good arguments on both sides.

I wonder if he's any relation to the little girl from Katy, Texas.
