Please explain the Carolina trade?

Aside from the fact you acquired DeAngelo then didn't sign him,

Why would we trade away a guy that was top 4 in scoring on the team (Regular season)
and tied for second most points for the team in the playoffs..........for a 5th rd pick and a 4th liner?

I just fail to see any logic in this

Racists aren't really good for rebuilds. Hawks want nothing to do with Deangelo.

Mike Smith is a cap dump no matter how good he's doing right now. Again a 50 year old goalie doesn't help a rebuild in any way.

Edmonton declines the Yamamoto trade.

The free agent signings are a mess too.

Loading a rebuilding roster with awful teammates and senior citizens is a great way to make sure Kane and Cat request to be traded.

That CAR trade is a lose / lose / lose trade. The extra loss is that it's very bad for Deangelo himself. I think he's in the best place possible. Both physically in location because it's a smaller market where he's not likely going to get as big a spotlight AND mentally because from everything I've seen/read...he's been pretty decent person down there too. No issues with his teammates.

The Hawks have had enough heat on them recently. They're not touching him with a 100' pole.

CAR took the risk and it's paying off. I think they should extend him.

Why would Carolina trade a 60-point pace D man for a bottom 6 forward and a 1st? Try a 1st or an A prospect to open the conversation

Yeah. CHI should want absolutely nothing to do with Deangelo. He is the worst possible fit. I don't care how good he is at hockey, I wouldn't let Carolina pay us to take him.

Don't you think he'd be a better fit on a team that covers up serious crimes? You'd never know what happened.

Considering it was almost a decade ago and it only came to light within the last couple of years, they did a very good job.
