Isles Blockbuster

Created by: MNCountryClub
Team: 2022-23 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: May 27, 2022
Published: Jun. 7, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I’m sure it would be simpler, but just wanted to explore including Kuli and a pick to bolster the return.

3rd line wouldn’t work, but 4th could bring some speed and potentially chip in above expected. Lotta flexibility to shuffle lines here anyhow.

Sell Dumba at the deadline half retained when this team inevitably misses a WC spot.

Fair enough. Reinheart has similar production and can play center. Pretty sure he penalty kills too.

Reinhart had 40 points in 54 games last season. Fiala just put up 85 in 82.

Guess it depends on how you define “similar production.”

Shortened season and he was on a terrible team.

Lol so run the 5th grade math and calculate pace.

0.74 ppg vs 1.03 ppg.

I’m not ignoring the shortened season, I just assumed you were capable of making that leap.

I mean the shortened season, quality of line mates and positional value. Also Reinheart is a righty and had similar production this year.

Lollll quality of line mates will never be a valid argument for lowering Fiala’s value. The guy has been stuck with more garbage than anyone else in the league for years. Outside of Boldy for 40 games, he’s had nothing but cones. So try again there. (Fiala paced for >100 points during those 40 games btw).

As for Reinhart producing similar this year, that’s probably the most irrelevant argument I’ve ever heard. If Reinhart were to be dealt this summer, you really think he’d go for the same package? Or do you think maybe, perhaps the 80+ point season would boost his value?

Levi was a big part of that deal. Also Minnesota can’t take back salary which makes this trucker since Fiala is gonna cost a lot to lock up long term.

I think his point was that Reinhart was dealt at discount value, and most likely the same fate awaits for Fiala, and Guerin seems perfectly content with it with his recent talks.

Fiala is gone and I'm not surprised at all if the return is surprisingly low (as the trend has been with top-6 forwards dealt as RFAs). I think this trade is an overpayment conpared to what Wild will actually receive, but we'll see about it.

Yeah so goes back to my original point of “we shall see.”

Comps are useful reference points, but markets change, GMs change, every player is different, etc.

I choose not to treat comps as being an end all, be all gospel on what to expect for Player X. Useful sure, but not a defined return that absolutely cannot be deviated from.

I also find “Player X is worth Player Y” to be a remarkably lazy argument.

I was generalizing. I don’t believe in moving lottery picks tbh

Yeah im aware of what the arguments are on both sides, it’s been covered 10k times on this site.

You think it’s an overpay, I think it’s in the ballpark, other Isles fan thinks it’s a no brainer they accept. Lol it’s a common pattern.

Why are people actually trying to argue that Reinhart is comparable to Fiala. Fiala is 5x the player. Stop being silly.

Fiala killed penalties this year for a decent chunk of the season. Even had a shorty. That's something Reinhart has never done. Evason said he liked how it kept Fiala engaged and playing the PK actually helped him clean up his offensive game a bit.
