If the Jets to Oilers trade happens, the goalie going the other way is going to be one of Rodrigue or Skinner.

Nice, Philly would love to take a pair of duces for one of the better 2-way D in the league… of course there has to be an A list prospect and a first attached to those 2s lol

Pastrnak trade is very light - id imagine the bruins would want guys more like Holloway, Bourgault, Broberg. If they wanted to avoid a rebuild and still move 88, i think guys like Bouchard, RNH, Puljujarvi would be targets.

No it wouldn’t. It would involve futures. We’ve had one superstar for superstar deal since hossa for heatley.

That said, three boring pieces isn’t enough. It would take premium futures.

Pastrnak is a 26 year old superstar, if only future assets come in return it means a rebuild. I don't know if Bruins engage a rebuild yet

Again…Subban for Weber, Heatley for Hossa. Those are the only two superstar trades that have happened this century. Its always futures….because logically that’s the only move that makes sense.

I don’t subscribe. Let me guess, written by fluto, who is garbage…full of his own ideas and thoughts and guesses.

I don’t care: there are two instances of stars being traded for stars in this century. I’m not gonna bet on it.

You're using "superstar" pretty loosely IMO. He was 40th in scoring in the NHL this season, tied with Kreider and Thomas. I don't consider those guys to be superstars.

Last year he was 35th.

And that's while playing with some of the best players in the league.

I don't subscribe either, but was able to read the entire article. And you don't need to be mad, he agrees with you.

"Lucic brought back a No. 13 pick, a future No. 1 goalie and a 22-year-old defenseman who played 42 games the following season. If the Bruins determine, on July 13 or shortly after, that extending Pastrnak is not possible, the ask for No. 88 will be higher.

A 2023 first-rounder would be nonnegotiable. They would want a 2023 second-rounder also. It wouldn’t end there. A young NHL player and high-end prospect would round out the package.

This is not how the Bruins want to proceed with one of the league’s most gifted finishers. They may not have a choice."

This is what I based my package on: 2023 1st, young NHL player (Yamamoto) and a high end prospect (Savoie).

Now, we can quibble about whether Savoie is "high end" or not, but a guy who basically matched Cole Caufield's production in NCAA for the past 2 years isn't dog****. Here are their NHLe's:

Draft+1
Savoie: 82, 19-11-30
Caufield: 82, 14-13-27

Draft+2
Savoie: 82, 21-21-42
Caufield: 82, 26-20-46

You're a scream. But Draisaitl isn't available, Pastrnak will be if they can't agree to an extension by August.

What if Oilers dangle Bouchard if Pastrnak agrees to sign? obviously, other assets will be considered in such a trade.

I mean, Pastrnak had a Rocket Richard with 48 Goals in 70 games, 30 goals in 70 playoff games and above a ppg playoff player, 4 straight seasons above ppg and 6 points away from a career ppg player. By next season at age 27 I'd place him in a superstar conversation especially if he pulls 50+ goals. Most importantly he plays on a 'defensive' 2-way type line rather than a fully offence orientated line

I certainly don’t consider bouchard a superstar, which is the context for this conversation. Also that doesn’t really address the Bruins needs. The RD is pretty set. I’m sure boston will be looking for a young center, or a draft pick that can turn into a young center with significant potential.

Edmonton wouldn't dangle Bouchard, especially as part of a package. They need to bolster their defense, not weaken it.

Bouchard kinda played a fully offensive Defenceman role and when he was drafted Dobson was more of the two-way defenceman. Bouchard can't be relied upon to make a Defensive impact and the last thing I think is an issue is the offence for the Oilers. They need that stay-at-home defence cycle kinda like Pelech, Tanev, Pesce, Slavin, Carlo, etc. I don't mind seeing Bouchard traded for a two-way forward at the playing level of Pastrnak but I like Bouchard and think he is the Oilers Parayko type Defenceman
