If you think fitzy is the problem, then ya gotta rethink everything bud. He created a future for this team. Doesn’t mean they are good now. From 2024-2034 their window to win a cup opens thanks to him. Don’t be salty bc we never had the right pieces to take the big steps. He’s got the position on lock

You got 4 solid pieces right there. Fiala had one very good season.

He is quite literally keeping Lindy Ruff as our coach. When Ruff gets fired 20 games into next season, Fitzgerald will be gone too.

Guerin takes this. I'd prefer Holtz and a 2nd to this too, but he'd be an idiot if he didn't.

Besides, top 3 protection is acceptable but anything more than that is idiotic.

That said, I'd still push for Holtz and a 2nd if I were Guerin.

So you think that’s why he should be fired😂😂. I agree that lindy isn’t the best coach but Hughes thrives under him. Also that should not be the reason for his firing. He’s accumulated about ten first round picks and players that were picked in the first round during his tenure. He created a future for this team. Stop crying that we aren’t winning now. He’s doing things right

I'm not crying, I'm being realistic. Fitzgerald has done good things for this team, but still keeping the one of the worst coaches in team history is pretty significant.

And has been on a 30 goal 70 point pace the last three years while stuck with bottom sixers, and being a top 5 possession player in the league during that same timespan.

It's fair value, but it's disingenuous to suggest he had *1 good year*.

Who're you hiring then? Dineen?

It's easy to say that Fitz should hire a guy like Cassidy, absolutely not easy for Fitz to actually do it.

Jack Hughes has stated that he loves playing for lindy and would be disappointed if he gets fired. Hughes thrives with him. I agree I’d choose someone else, but you can’t say that if he doesn’t fire ruff (which is a whole management decision, not just his decision), then he should be fired. You are very superficial if you think that is the reason he should be fired. His contract negotiation skills are incredible as to what we’ve seen so far with Bratt, sharangovich, siegenthaler, and Blackwood as they could have demanded more. He’s provided a future for this team too. Now tell me, do you think that all that good is worse than keeping a coach that is not entirely his decision whatsoever, even when the team was atrocious last year and it wasn’t lindys fault completely that they didn’t have playoff caliber guys on the team? Cmon man wake up

Yet not a single piece to me jumps out as “worth it” to deal Fiala for. Foote would be buried behind a mountain of depth at LW. Okhotiuk would never see the NHL. He’d probably be 3rd pair at the AHL level with guys like Lambos/O’Rourke/Hunt/Peart coming along soon. 2nd this year and probably a late 1st next year? Nah.

I don’t see why Guerin takes this unless you think Jersey is going to have a top 10 pick next year.

Yes, fire your head coach after two of your best players (Hughes and Bratt) said they liked Ruff

Is trading for Fiala not to push for the playoffs?

Half the league makes the playoffs. Going from 5th last to winning playoff rounds is pretty damn rare. Pick would likely be middle of the pack at best.

I don’t really want a middle of the pack 1st when Ottawa is likely offering #7 this year.

That's fine, but that 2023 pick isn't a "late first".

I'd be quite surprised if Ottawa offering up #7. So many high-end wingers available this season and the next.
