Description

I put Lucic on LTIR in the hopes he retires. I think moving Johnny gives us the most flexibility, and I would rather build around Tkachuk. The depth of the roster is really good, and gives you two years before lots of roster movement needs to happen.

Devils decline obviously. Only counter-offer I can come up with is PK Subban.

This makes no sense. Why do Devil's make that trade? Do they actually want the extra year for that much?

Swap out Mercer, 1st, and 2nd for a 5th

UFA rights aren’t worth anything close to that

Gaudreau is a free agent. Devils would be interested in signing him, not trading for him

He is a unrestricted free agent in a few weeks. If we were interested in him, we would sign him and not give up any assets.

The devils will just keep Mercer and the picks and sign Johnny as a FA

No one's giving you anything of high value for Johnny's rights. They'll simply wait a few weeks and try to sign him. Johnny's not signing before Free Agency anyway. He'll wait to see the bids.

How has everyone just missed the entire 8th year point of this post... Gaudreau at 8x10 -10.5 is significantly better than 7 x Panarin's number that will come on the open market

no one's paying to maybe sign Johnny to 1 extra year. Especially not that extreme cost

Calgary wont get more than a 3rd or 4th round pick for Sean Monahan.

And on what planet does UFA rights cost that much? Try more like a 4th round pick at best.
