Don't see why Zadina's value is higher than Pulju's, if it's even as high as his at all. And Klef's LTIR is not such a concern to give up a high pick. So don't see the interest here.

Why does everybody want Pettersson? He is not that special, and for 3 more years. I don´t know about that. I would much rather just sign walman, he was easily our best LD after the deadline.

If we can get a 1st as well, i do it in a heartbeat, but there is no way Penguins is willing do that.

I'll disagree, I'd have interest if I was the Oilers. But I'll also agree that I don't see the difference in that trade as a 2nd round pick. Jesse for Zadina is a lot closer than that. I actually really like the thought there though, Zadina has a lethal shot that might replace some of that "score from anywhere" that we are going to lose with Kane likely gone

The reason we want Pettersson is that he's the perfect partner for Hronek. He's absolutely rock solid defensively and he's a great puckhandler which is Hronek's weakest area. Pairing him with Hronek will give Hronek options to offload breakout passes to him and his puckhandling skills will give Hronek much more time when he does have the puck and we won't have to watch him panic and give the puck away or wire it along the boards to the nearest opponent anywhere near as much as we do today.

Walman isn't good defensively at all, he has 1.90 giveaways per 60 compared with 0.74 for Pettersson, takeaways are 0.72 for Walman and 0.90 for Pettersson, hits are 4.69 for Walman and 6.49 for Pettersson. Pettersson is better in every single defensive metric except shot blocks and he scores almost twice as much too 1.01 points per 60 versus 0.62 for Walman.

Three years is no problem at all for Detroit, Pettersson is young and will have trade value in case our prospects should become good enough to oust him. With the cap increasing and Detroit's ability to retain salary we'll get more than what we paid.

This trade here is nonsense though. A fair price for Pettersson is a 3rd round pick considering PIT's cap situation.

I would just take him if it lands us a 1st cause we can play him for 2 seasons and possibly find a taker for year 3 even if we have to eat salary on the last year . Im not interested in the player himself lol just know pens are likely desperate to get rid of some contracts

Ya im not going crazy thinking we got a steal with walman like most fans seem to be lol , he’ll be gone after next season

2nd is cause of klebom’s contract involved . Zadina with draisaitl i think hits 20 goal mark at least , my preference is to hold on to him and see what he does with a new coach i havent given up on him just yet but we’ll need spots soon with soderblom and possible other kids coming . Guys like zadina, veleno, bertuzzi, vrana will likely be gone next couple years to create spots (could add berggren to the mix but hoping he’ll be a nice addition)

Hes making 4+ and tied up for 3 more years , think we can find a cheaper solution for a steady dman who doesnt put up pts . As for hronek which is another story i think he’ll be dealt soon enough so not worried about finding his perfect d partner

And walman for me is a 7th d and gone after next season

If you want someone cheaper then you'll end up with Nemeth, somemeone who might as well play without a stick because he doesn't know how to use one. $4 million is a million less than what we paid for DDK and three years is the perfect length needed to ease in the kids.

When the kids are ready to take over Pettersson will still have one year left on his contract and can be traded as a proper player instead of as a rental. We'll easily get more back when traded, something we won't with players like Staal, Nemeth, Scandella or someone else.

If you've watched Marcus play you'd have known that he's more than a stay at home defender.

Pettersson and Hronek could form a good pair, but i can´t agree with the "Walman isn´t good defensively at all". You haven´t watched him play if you say that. Walman has all the tools what Yzerman wants in a player as well. Don´t think he was just a throw in, when Stevie has scouted him since his AHL days.

Somebody who don´t get criticism at all, is Jordan Oesterle. That dude is just so bad defensively that he played as a forward at some points, but still people have him over Walman or even Staal in lineup.

Big question marks for me is that, can Pettersson play at the same level in Detroit than he did in a good team like Penguins? If not. What do we do with him then? Buyout, Cap dumb where we lose picks? What if Edvinsson, Johansson, Wallinder or somebody else from the many prospects are ready sooner than we think?

I just think 3 years for an okay defenceman is not a smart move. I would much rather go after a big name that could have a long future with the team.

But i respect your opinion grin

I watched all the games this season. Walman has the most giveaways per 60 of all defenders on the team (except Stecher who didn't play much).

This is the real life, not a simulation mode bud. You can´t say somebody is bad by just watching at the analytics. You watched every game, what was the biggest weaknesess of his game?

We dont have to take on anyone more than 2 years atm , id rather keep assets than help a team desperate to rid themselves of contracts and sign someone like edler for one year and seeing how it goes. He’s a veteran dman and would be just as good to play with hronek or seider depending who else we get and if we switch up lines on different nights. he’d also possibly be a trade chip at the deadline

Johansson will likely be here in 2 years and and sebrango and mcisaac will see some action , adding pettersson was only a suggestion to add a pick and moving him later on prior to his contract ending , hes not a necessity

His defense. He can hit and block shots but his positioning and puck control is non-existent.

And don't call me Bud.

Yes the ones you pick & chooses from. Analytics don´t give a full represation of the game. You can be caught in situations that are not your fault. You will have four shots against and you have nothing to with that situation. Eye test is the number 1 thing, then comes all the data.

You think scouts evaluates a player by just watching at the computer? NO.
