Not a bad trade for LA but I dont think they trade Kupari. Hes going to be a good power forward real soon.
Grans gives you Vancouver fans a stiffy huh? You target him a lot on here.

Wouldn't it be better for US just to sign Peter Forsberg for 7 years at $9.5 million?

I mean Peter is getting a bit old but fly at it if you can convince him.

Largely because Faber and Clarke aren't really available. We also like the size that Grans brings and the rumours that Canucks were interested in him at the deadline.

Unless the Kings plan on putting Miller at wing it doesn't make much sense, You already have Kopitar, Danault and Byfield down the middle. The very last thing the Kings need is more Cs.

Agreed, I doubt he takes anything less than $9,500,000 x 7 years on the open market. Every thing i've seen suggested that he wants $9,000,000 x 8 years just to remain in Nashville.

Gives them options particularly in a couple years when Kopitar is 37ish and might not be as effective and/or Byfield takes longer than expected to become a true top 6C. Never a bad thing to have lots of options up the middle.

Highly unlikely Miller comes to LA. They will only do it if there is an extension in place, they also don't need him as a center so wouldn't pay the premium to not only get him but get him in your own division.

He'll go to the east for a 1st + prospect as a rental.

It's been a long time since he's played in Nashville. I don't see him returning there. I also think Filip might not want to stay in Nashville.

This is true, never hurts to have options. And Miller to the kings does make tons of sense.

Vilardi and/or Turcotte might have developed by then. And I'm sorry about having Peter Forsberg implanted in my aged memory bank instead of Filip.

Lol all good of course I knew what you meant. Ya LA has a lot of options at C but pretty much all of them could also play W so it's never a bad thing to have another high end option that can play C or W in the event some of the young guys don't fully take that step to be a top 6 C. Could also have a situation like Petey and Miller the past few years where Miller takes faceoffs but plays W as that's an area where younger players tend to struggle.

Agreed, From the sound of things from his season ending presser. It all but sounded like he wasn't coming back to Nashville. There will probably be at least 10 suitors after him this coming summer.

I don't either, I think other team will offer him more money. They only thing the Preds have to offer is the 8th year. But if a team were to trade for his UFA rights then they can offer him the 8th year as well.

Agreed they likely trade him out of division but I like the package LA could put together more than most other teams. It would be tough seeing Miller in division but imo you take the best package available.

I think the issue is we aren't stressed to get a dominant top-6 player just yet, especially one who excels at the center position. We might just need a placeholder this off seasob because a slew of top-line players are UFAs next season. While other teams are dying at center and would certainly bend over backward to get Miller more than the Kings.

True. But damn I think LA would be a scary team next year if they added someone like Miller to that roster and have a healthy Doughty. There's a chance they want to make another push at a cup before Kopitar and Doughty get too much older.

Yeah if a team acquires his UFA rights, And offers him $9,500,000 x 8 years. Pretty sure he'd be jumping for joy.

We are just as scary getting Fiala, Gaudreau, or Forsberg. But I think the Kings are waiting, defense will be our focus this season trying to get Chychrun. I think next season we go all in on Pasta if he makes it to the free agency, and could get Kane, ROR, or Tarenseko as back up plans. I see those players working better with Kopitar than Miller anyhow.
