The old 10 for 1 deal, yes we've seen it many many times.

Usually there are at least 2-3 of them per season

So he's getting traded for Fiala because it fits both teams needs?

That is a lot of things. I'll give you that. Start with Necas + Drury + Keane + 1st. But we'd probably still get better offers and I doubt other Canes fans would want to give that up.

That's actually a really fair start. Most Canes fans would probably be willing to upgrade Keane to Morrow as well. I think if that's where we're starting, there's a good chance that happens.

DeBrincat is due a $9M qualifying offer on his next contract. For that reason alone, zero chance the Canes trade for him.

Really? Nice. I thought y'all would be gripping Drury, Morrow and your 1sts tightly. As a contending team, It definitely makes sense to make that trade, though. Carolina is already a pretty complete team but I think Cat could kick that offense into another gear. And I think he is gonna be a monster in the playoffs whenever he finally gets there.

We want quality over quantity. The hawks will probably get better offers and it isn't a good move for the Canes, even if they moved out contracts to afford DeBrincat's $9mil+ aav extension, it would still put them in cap hell. It's not a bad offer though.

Carolina need someone elseto put the puck into the net. Aho sleepwalked through last season (yeah, he had 81 points because he's good, but he didn't look like Sebastian Aho) and though Svech and Jarvis took steps, the offense was still an issue.

Well, to be honest, I am super reluctant to let Cat go for any package. Even if we did get the equivalent of four 1sts for him, the odds of any of those pieces turning into anything close to Cat are pretty low. But it sounds like he is the exact kind of player the Canes need. He is never invisible. Even when he has had offensive slumps, he is always working hard in every zone.

Exactly, but if Chicago is going to rebuild, they're going to sell off Cat. We've all seen Seravalli say it's when they move him, not if. Carolina need to be one of the first teams in the mix for him because he's a 40 goal scorer. Carolina has enough support players and depth guys.

Sure. It is absolutely true that it makes sense for a rebuilding team to get a big haul for their biggest trade chip. But, I don't think it is necessary. Seravalli is right that it makes sense, but also, he needs clicks to keep his job. Davidson wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't exploring all the options. But Cat has stated that he is down with the rebuild and that he would like to stay in CHI, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if Cat was sticking around.

Seravalli is still one of the most reliable sources when it comes to these things. Perhaps it is a little shocking, but the way he worded it that it is "when" they move him.

Just read Scott powers article on the athletic. It seems way more absolute the way he wrote about the situation, and he is probably closer with CHI insiders than Seravalli. I just hate to let him go. But If they do, I hope they get an absolutely outstanding haul for him and they do this rebuild right. I guess they can always go after some players down the road when the rebuild is nearing completion. Who knows what kind of players will be around then.

I don't subscribe to the Athletic so I haven't read it. Sum it up for me?

I mean... Summed up, it is essentially what Seravalli said "not if, but when" but in more certain terms and some of the things he said sounded a lot more like insider information.

Alright, that makes more sense. Seravalli might have been trying to keep it within a character limit.
