halfway through this year you could've argued that Romanov was not worth the time anymore but under MSL he really blossomed into a gem (how many different players did that though amirite?) now a bonified top four D who can play both sides comfortably, he is solidly our best defenceman and in my mind the third most valuable player in our organization.

exactly right. People need to view Romanov for what he is, he isnt going to put up 50 point seasons, he reminds me a lot of Emelin but i think has more potential. He will be hopefully signed long term this summer so they can keep the cap hit as low as possible but he is very much a part of the future in MTL.

HABS will sign Romanov to an 8 year contract. He will not be traded.

That was kind of my thoughts, I was wondering why they assumed this would be fair value

MN doesn’t need another LHD prospect. We have a plethora of them already, like 5 good ones. Victor doesn’t do anything for us either. We’ve got wingers, we’ve got wingers playing C because we’re so short on C’s.

Romanov's play has been very encouraging considering the workload he had to endure for a while. The team's top three defensemen (Edmundson, Chiarot, Petry) were never in the lineup at the same time and he's been deployed on the 1st pair of a trainwreck team multiple times, often logging the most minutes.

Agree with all the previous comments on Romanov, it isn’t all about how many points a guy gets in a year, I think the offence will come but it’s not a make or break for him. He is a young guy logging like 25 minutes a night and he plays super tough, look what the avalanche gave up for a guy like Manson at the deadline, I think they are similar styles of D

I think with the arrival of Ghule, Harris, Xhekaj, Romanov could possibly be trade if the offer is good... however, Casey Mittens is not the player we would want or need. Especially if you add Allen to this.

I see the habs rolling with Ghule and Romanov as their top 4 LHD for the future - very mobile and defensive-minded Dmen.

TBF up to this point he has not been set up to succeed, getting top minutes on a bottom-feeder team in only your second year is a tall order. his lack of offensive production also tends to discourage people who want to believe that he truly is the answer. on the flip side though, his defensive numbers show great promise. he is by no means perfect still sometimes getting caught chasing a hit instead of the puck, or being just a little bit loose on his coverage, but all in all things that are expected and can be forgiven in a young player. I expect this year to really show what he can do, tying together his experience and showing for all to see that he can be a reliable NHL D be it on the top or second pair.

Hoping for the best. I see a lot of that response in what we heard about dahlin. "he was a minus 32" yeah well he played top pair minutes on a team that lost 20 straight games in 2020/2021 lol
