MN declines, no money. They’d probably do it if they found a way to make the finances work though.

I think this actually does work because Drouin at this price is a very low-risk potential replacement for Fiala. Obviously, Drouin is nowhere near Fiala's level but he might be an affordable player to slot into the top 6.

What if we throw in Calgary's 1st and a 3rd and you throw in Dumba and remove the 4th?

I'm not sure where Edmonton is going to find that goalie for this price. In theory, the best option for them would be Husso, but he is going to be expensive. Edmonton is going to be looking to optimize their spending as to be able to retain and acquire players. Allen is cheap and has experience as a starter, a tandem starter, and a backup. Very valuable experience too, having been to two cup finals.

So essentially Drouin, a 1st, and a 3rd for Dumba?

mikko koskinen was not good enough for what they wanted and he has very comparable stats to allen.

No from Dallas. We need to look after a younger D.

    Good luck with that.

There were 5 goalies this year that had over .920. Shesterkin, Sorokin, Markström, Andersen and Kuemper. And I don't see any of them moving anywhere.

Dumba is the better player and plays a more valuable position. It also allows us to move Petry without a downgrade at that position.

The differences between Koskinen and Allen are:
    1. They had similar stats this year, and one of them played on the worst team in the NHL.
    2. Allen has proven throughout his career that he is able to play like a starter through the duration of a season. Koskinen is far more inconsistent than Allen.
    3. Allen shows up in big moments, whereas I feel as though Koskinen seems to crack under pressure.

I agree with you, but I'm not sure if trading the pick is worth it for a team that is rebuilding. I just don't see Dumba in the team's long-term plans. I'd rather keep the pick and save that money to use elsewhere (such as a Caufield extension next summer).

Who will that be though? Because the best available UFA defensemen right now is Letang. Obviously, acquiring Petry is assuming that Klingberg doesn't re-sign with the Stars. The only defenseman that is affordable and available like Petry that might be better is Barrie.

Kuemper is a free agent but you are right colorado has the money to keep him. Husso? Many feel Gibson is available and Chris Driedger is available. Hellebuyuk may be available before long.

With you. Maybe Kuemper but EDM would have to overpay to get him and that’s probably not a good idea

I just don't think Edmonton can afford to sign/trade for any of these guys. (Driedger was a .899 this year... that's way worse than Allen)

If they yardsale barrie and trade one of yamamoto or puljujarvi buyout or trade kassian they most certainly do.

Sure, they could do that, or they could just acquire Allen and not have to do any of those things. I don't think Edmonton is looking to blow up their team to acquire a slightly better goalie.

value wise the avs trade is fair. just not a big fan of dvoraks games. if he's not scoring he's useless.

He could be a good defensive centerman for the Avs. It could take pressure away from other lines to shut down other top lines, especially in the playoffs.

Walker, Schultz, Shattenkirk come to mind, potentially even Liljegren or Lundkvist.

Just want to avoid adding another 35+ year old D with term. There's already enough burden in Suter and we're not looking to build another Sharks.
