Ehlers just shouldn't be traded, that offer does little for the Jets.

Heh. That's not getting Ottawa near Ehlers.

That is such an over payment on the Cat. Pinto is a BLUE CHIP prospect. Too bad he got hurt last year and yes I realize that it effects his trade value. Watch his highlights from the preseason last year.

Overpay? It's going to require a blue chip prospect and a couple of firsts or equivalent as reported, so no this isn't an overpay. https://hockeyroyalty.com/2022/06/20/blackhawks-reveal-asking-price-for-forward-alex-debrincat/

Pinto, while a good prospect and likely top 6 player, there are obviously questions if he's truly a blue chip/franchise level player. The 1st is #7 in a very weak first round draft year. So while this isn't far off, this isn't an overpay and the value of the trade all depends on how the teams view Pinto (or fans in the case of this website).

It's reported the Hawks and Devils are talking about the #2OA draft pick and Alexander Holtz for Cat...which deal would you rather take?

Not taking anything away from DeBrincat that is way to much .With the cap situation of some teams there will be bargains around. The deal you want would be comparable to the Karlson deal where SJ did not expect to give away a top 5 pick (most likely bottom 15 first rounder). Karlson at that point in time was arguably a top 5 player in the whole league.

Good luck getting the haul you want. Now in that deal above trade out Pinto and add in Jaraventie and that's about all I would be willing to give.

But also a different time and Karlsson was in a different contract situation.

I hope the Hawks don't trade Cat, but if they do, they are in the drivers seat and made teams know that...rightfully so. Holtz+2nd OA is a very fair ask for a elite 24 year old who has plenty of upside left.
