Reports that NJ is going to take a huge push for JC and possibly trade for his rights before he hits the market and if they sign him will trade blackwood, Honestly i think they should hold on to him, unless they are really going to use the cap space this offseason which i think they will.

They'd agree on an extension after ,NJ will have enough cap coming off to solidify a core long term of slaf, JT, Hughes, Nico, Foresberg, mercer and holtz in the top 6

They can't afford his extension. You completely forgot about Bratt and Forberg's contract is 2m+ short.

The thing is, smith and Johnson don’t really add much here. The thing this trade is missing is a really high end piece. The pick is 2 drafts away as well, so not worth nearly as much as a pick in this years draft.

Canucks would rather do Mercer straight up than trade Miller for a collection of lower end pieces. But I’m assuming NJD would say no to that

Personally as much as i want bratt to stay, i think he's on his way out his agent is pushing him to get a big pay out, which he is capable of..

He’s an RFA… NJD retain his rights no matter what unless they trade him
