The Jets arent interested in going backwards

Description
Dreger said today "The Jets aren't interested in going backwards" which I think means that we want to be competitive this season. I know everyone on here wants us to blow it up, but Dreger is Chevy's unofficial mouth piece so I believe him here -- Chipman can be a bit frugal and I'm sure he'd like to have some playoff revenue and actually sell some games out this year.

Dreger also reported that Dubois is unlikely to be moved, barring a major offer. Of course, as Chevy's mouth piece, this is exactly what Chevy would want out there lol. But, considering how we handled Trouba and within the goal of trying to be a playoff team this season, let's assume this means he stays.

And seeing as Scheifele trade rumours have subsided in favour of Wheeler trade rumours, I'll work under the assumption that we will move Wheeler and that we've repaired relations with Scheifele and we'll keep him.

Also idk if that's enough to get Lehkonen but that's the sort of trade the Jets will have to make in this scenario, IMO. Stanley plus picks for a cap casualty kinda player from a contender.

Lekhonen went for a prospect way better than Stan and a 1st, have to think this is an easy no tbh

Of course any one in Jets management isn't saying that are going "backwards". They got season tickets to sell and players to sign.
Never believe what a reporter "reports", or what a GM or player says publicly. Draw your own conclusions.
Don't know if any team really can afford Wheeler (or wants to)

I think your description sums up the most likely direction the Jets take.

i believe it was a second and that was a deadline deal, you arent seeing anyone getting a hagel or lindholm return now

Instead of Lekhonen, the Jets might look instead to either to Burakovsky or Nichushkin. Nichushkin would be a good defensive presence for Schiefele and Burakovsky is good friends with Ehlers. Those players I’m sure Chevy would be interested in, even if he usually doesn’t go after UFA’s.

Yeah good luck with that.
