Trades
1.
VGK
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (NJD)
  2. 2022 5th round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Not getting players because the current goal is to create some cap space.
NJD
  1. Lehner, Robin
Additional Details:
One of the worst goaltending during the 2021/22 season. Lehner may have had his worst statistical season but you also gotta remember how VGK treats their goalies. Especially how they handled his injury. You get competent goaltending.
2.
VGK
  1. 2022 4th round pick (VGK)
  2. 2022 4th round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Just a cap dump again. You get mid-round picks.
DET
  1. Martinez, Alec
Additional Details:
You can get closer to the cap floor, you have room for a LHD and he is better than the LHDs you used this past season.
3.
VGK
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
I could just keep him probably for a 2/3yrs at around 2.5/3M AAV but I'll be doing what Vegas has done in their short existence (go for the big fish).
OTT
  1. Roy, Nicolas [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
3 years younger than Connor Brown. Roy's contract year was his best year in terms of production. You could trade Connor Brown for a slightly higher price and get a player
4.
VGK
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
I could've kept Roy but Kapanen gives better middle-6 scoring.
PIT
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
A 3rd doesn't seem enough but it all depends on the contract negotiations between PIT and him. Kapanen definitely won't sign the QO and who knows how it'll go down during the negotiations. He is a frustrating player that has the tools to play better.
5.
VGK
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (FLA)
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (CGY)
  3. 2023 6th round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Odds of this happening are close to 0%, but Vegas always wants the flashy players and this moves clears cap and allows me to go big for a LW FA.
SEA
  1. Pacioretty, Max
Additional Details:
You were 28th in goal scoring the past season. Would definitely improve that. Not sure about the return since Patches just turned 33 and has only 1yr left on his deal even if he's basically above a ppg for the past 3 years. You obviously won't send a first

Martinez is just too old to be of any real use to Detroit. They aren't giving up assets or him no matter how small. Given what McDonagh just went for, Vegas is gonna have to add a pick to dump Martinez

They need to hunt for a big goalie not a winger at least not a 10m one.

I just saw the trade and you're absolutely right. But my question is how are you going to reach salary floor. You are going to take on contracts. Now you are right, Vegas would send a pick but I doubt it's a high one either. Martinez is not an expensive liability combine that to the LHD depth.

Yzerman will likely sign or trade for a C, D and a backup goalie. He'll have no problem reaching the Cap floor. The off season has barely started.

There are none on the FA market, I doubt they get one via trade as they don't really have the draft capital for it. Not to mention that I doubt that they think this way with how they've treated their goalies recently.

Logan Thompson also had a very good AHL and NHL campaign last year and did more than enough to push them to the playoffs. They couldn't bury 1 shootout attempt out of the last 17.

I agree they shouldn't target a big FA winger but VGK's history says that they'll keep doing this

You're right, plenty of time. I doubt he spends 15.3M on his current FAs so he's gonna have to sign or trade. I still think he'll take a cap dump from someone as long as it has a reasonable term left and not too expensive.

I don't expect Stevie to sign or trade for any big names. Just placeholders on short term deals.

You forgot to add the "everyone knows Vegas is in dire straits and signing JG will only intensify that schadenfreude" surcharge to most of these. tears of joy

Cap floor is not a problem for Detroit.

Yzerman is going to acquire two LD (of Martinez might be one), a 2C, a 2RW, a backup goalie. We should end up with a cap around $70-72 million.
