Only thing Ottawa gets is much worse draft pick, and more years of bad cap

Ottawa would be miserable to play against with Norris/Tkachuk on one line and Stutzle/Anderson the another.

Really not thrilled with going 33rd to 7th. Rather keep Josh. To me this is trading just to trade cause draft is in MTL. Couldnt care any less about the Zaitsev/Savard swap. If Ottawa wants to compete then they do this trade. 7th OA is a maybe

35 points wingers aren't with 5.5m especially for five years. Only Habs fans think Anderson is fair or even good value.

There’s more to his value than just points.

Slafkovsky is being drafted just for his "toolbox" Scoring 5 goals in Liiga is historically low for a top10 pick's draft season. Armia, Kotkaniemi both blew him out of the water! But he beat up on Italy and Japan in the Olympics so I guess he's some kind of specimen much like Dale Weise going crazy in the Netherlands during the lockout.

Ppl way overvaluing this draft class, this is 2011 all over again. You'll be getting Sven Baertschi and Tyler Biggs. Talking like Frank Nazar is a guaranteed 80 point player. Most of these guys wont even be regular nhl'rs

I see this kinda like 2014. There will be busts but there will also be Ehlers , Nylander, Fiala kind of players in there.

Stützle was pushed around too much last season. He needs someone keep Gallagher’s dirty knee in check. Enter Josh.

Can't see MTL declining that offer. Sucks to lose Anderson but a top 10 pick and $4.5M in cap space has more value to a rebuilding habs team.

The Zaitsev / Savard swap is also nice for MTL, Zaitsev will be off the books in 2 years when MTL is ready to compete again and in the meantime he would be a fine partner for Romanov. Savard hasn't been very good in MTL anyways.

There's way too many question marks this draft. Scouts are all in agreement that their are no superstars yet ppl are valuing early picks like its a standard draft season when covid stunted a lot of development and teams lists will vary tremendously. Going from 33 to 7th isnt much of a leap this season. They'll be guys available at 33 with the same toolboxes and the same question marks.

Then you have the Russian situation which teams will avoid entirely.

That is the only benefit to me. The cap space. If they can't get much value for Petry, and it's looking doubtful, then trading Josh Anderson would be a solution. I only trade Josh if other assets are NOT digestible for other teams.

Simply put, once they trade Josh, they'll be looking to replace him! The team is quite small and they looked for years to get an Anderson type, and yet, they are thinking of trading him the first chance they get interest. Ppl are so fickle, I dont get why many aren't hesitant to do it. Drunk by the draft day cloud.

Agreed, I wouldn't trade him unless they get a good return he is a rare type of player.

A rare type of player that can’t get more than 40 pts in a season

And how did Josh Anderson protect the smaller Montreal players last season? He took 3 majors all year and not ONE of them was defending a teammate.
He jumped Trouba after the final horn, he jumped Olivier with 1:15 left in the second, and the last was against Hartman with 5 seconds left in the second.
He doesn't engage nearly enough to be a deterrent.
Also worth noting he's hit the 20 goal mark just ONCE in his career. Reached 40+ points just once.
The Habs acquired him for a rapidly declining Max Domi and a 3rd... he's worth even less now.
