Description

Nemec selection could force a hard decision on Severson, who has been expected to sign extension with NJD. My guess is that the NTC/NMC that Severson gets in his new deal could be sticking point…and could lead to deciding factor in his future with NJ.

Also, Walsh may become big trade chip as he has only one more year of waiver-exemption. Mukhamadullin has three more years.

I had Nemec as #1 in my rankings. So I am not in the least bit upset. By I am a little surprised we took him.

I never was that high on him personally. I saw him as our default pick if Wright went 1st but very happy with Nemec

Along with GK, feel like RD was the greatest organizational weakness. Getting the top prospect there feels like a win to me.

Im also not real confident Severson is extended, which only raised the stakes. Sure you can play Luke Hughes, Ty Smith and others off hand, as they certainly have the experience, but having a top flight RD prospect on his right side feels like a smart long term play by Fitz.

I did want Slafkovsky, not gonna lie, But I mean 2 studs on the back end in Luke and SImon for the future? Yeah I'm not gonna cry at all. And everything I've read about Nemec is that his game is solid in all 3 zones.

I would personally take Jagger Firkus if he gets to #37.

I think Fitzy will take one of possible power forwards in 2nd round. Julian Lutz, Jani Nyman. Maybe Ingram. In 3rd round, maybe Alex Bump, Ryan Greene, Matyas Sapovaliv or one of the goalies.
