I mean ur kinda talking out ur behind rn. 100 point forward who’s older for 50 point d man who’s younger. Kinda even, both will demand pay raises as well. Dobson isn’t worth miller+. The overvalue cuz it’s ur own guy is insane. Not to mention romanov is coming into the isles system. Pelech and pullock are ur top 2 D. Also don’t be surprised if Dobson gets offersheeted and the isles can’t match. With about $12mil in cap, if a team comes by and offers an aho contract to Dobson. The isles will have no choice but to shake the roster up dramatically of let him walk for a 1st 2nd and 3rd. Stars and jackets could both easily do this in their current situations. With 12 mil to resign Dobson, sign romanov, and a 6D with room for a 7D or generally bottom of the barrel guy, the isles are not in the position to sign Dobson for big money, 8.45mil money. I’d be happy to get miller when it results in the isles avoiding a crucial problem in a potential offersheet. Bergevin broke the ice, Waddell showed it was possible in the modern era. Teams will be making offersheets as a part of the new NHL

Dobson also wants to sign an offersheet. Isles are not in a position to match unless they heavily shake up the team. That means guys like Bailey or beau or even nelson are gone if they want to keep dobson

That’s not true at all. Isles have twelve million in Cap and Lou just said he’s not worried about Dobson.

You are way off here. First off guys only sign offer sheets if they hate their organization or if it’s in retaliation to another offer sheet. Secondly, the islanders would match an 8.45 million dollar a year offer sheet for Dobson. And lastly there is no world in which Miller is worth Dobson.

I mean from the isles perspective they would decline. Dobson is pretty much untouchable , he’s definitely not getting traded for a 29 YO looking for 8.5 mill till he’s age 36 season. Dobson is the face of the isles , the offense runs through him. He isn’t going anywhere

The isles plan to move Varlamov which frees up more cap space. No one is offering Dobson 8.45 mill , would you put money on that happening?

First off the isles would trade Beau and Bailey to keep Dobson. Secondly you don’t know anything about the islanders or how the nhl works. The Aho/Kotkaniemi offer sheets won’t happen again since Bergavin is out of the league and Carolina learned their lesson lol. Just a terrible take on your part. I’m not even saying there shouldn’t be offer sheets, but NHL GM’s never pull this **** and when
they do they usually don’t last long.

I wouldn’t call him the face of the isles but he certainly isn’t going anywhere lol. I wouldn’t trade Dobson for Dubois so I certainly wouldn’t trade him for Miller Lmao.

I actually know for a fact that Dobson wouldn’t sign an offersheet. Most players don’t want to strain the relationship with their current teams unless they feel like they are being disrespected in negotiations

Anybody who wants to trade for JT Miller should just go out and sign Andrew Copp lol. You will get a better return on your investment.

As a Canucks fan, I'd add quite a bit to Miller to get Dobson alone.

I think it would Take Miller 50% retained Myers 2 million retained and a 3rd or 2nd. For Dobson. This is coming from a Vancouver fan.

I honestly think it would cost way way more. Way way WAY more.

This is a 22 year old, 6'4, smooth skating right handed defenseman who just scored 51 points. A guy who was the focal point of the Islanders offense and breakouts. He is going to be a top 5 RHD (the rarest position in the NHL) for over a decade.

He's about as valuable a commodity in the NHL as it gets. Realistically, there is a zero percent chance he gets traded, but I think it would be more like Miller, Rathbone, Podkolzin/Lekkerimaki, and next 1st, if not more.

I love how you say someone is talking out of their ass because you think they have a personal bias and then follow up saying he wants to sign an offer sheet, like that didn’t just come completely out of your own ass. And I have no affiliation with Isles fandom whatsoever. You don’t give up a young top-pairing defenseman as one singular piece of a one-year rental, let alone adding more to it. Imagine the Canes gave up Slavin+ for ANY one-year rental 5 years ago. You’re out of your damn mind.

I have no idea why everyone is calling Miller a rental. Miller has 1 year left at 5.2 million for a 99 point player. Vancouver would probably retain half for the right return. Any team with the cap room and want a 1C can sign him at the end of next year or agree to an extension before accepting a trade. Normally you get rentals at the trade deadline and have them for half a year. This isn't the case for JT.

Not arguing Dobson has value but, the offer you are talking about is insane. Compare what you're saying to what Jones got which was a more established player.

Miller - 99 point 1C
Rathbone - Currently a 3rd pairing guy but has top 4 upside.
Podkolzin - Currently a 3rd liner but, has top 6 power forward upside.
Lekkerimaki Hard to say but, has the potential to be a 1st line RW with 30+ goals if everything pans out.
1st which would probably be between 15-20 next year in a good draft.

I honestly think Dobson has quite a bit more value than Jones did at the time of his trade. Jones was 4 years older, coming off a bit of a down year, and had red flags defensively.

I would say the difference between the packages also isn't that big, as I was saying pod or lekky, not both.

CHIs 12th OA = Podkolzin/Lekkerimaki
CHIs future first (at trade time) = VANs future first
Boqvist > Rathbone
CHIs 44th oa << Miller
