Won't happen but Calgary would definitely ask for Zegras or Drysdale to trade in division

idk maybe start with actual good pieces for tkachuk lol, the only way they accept this is if it’s a top 3 2023 1st

I think a trade including either isn’t even a possibility from Anaheim. That would make no sense for them

Sure Anaheim has some nice young pieces, but Tkachuk isn't going to be interested in going to a rebuilding team.

Why do people persist in thinking that Anaheim would strain to reach the cap floor? We're less than $10 million away with 6 roster slots to fill, including re-signing Isac Lundestrom, who will almost certainly cost more than the remainder average. Trading for one $3 million middle-6 forward or signing one $3 million free agent should see us home without stretching. Scandella alone would do it.

That could still be a high 1st, Lacombe is a ppg in the NCAA, Pastujov puts up points easily. Those are very good pieces

Tkachuk is a unicorn. Neither of those pieces are very appealing. Lacombe is like your 3rd best LD prospect and Pastujov is like your 7th best young forward. To get a 40 goal, 100 point power forward in his prime you have to give up MAJOR assets

Anaheim politely points to the Debrincat trade and says this is 5x better.

Also not a duck fan as the title clearly states so they aren’t my anything.

That’s cool, Kyle Davidson is an idiot. Brad Treliving is not. DeBrincat shoulda gone for double, and Tkachuk is worth significantly more. And if the Ducks make the playoffs, the 7th overall pick is probably more valuable than this package lol

    Where is McTavish?

Don't see why the Ducks would trade for Scandella or Zaitsev and I don't see the appeal in singing Jarnkrök. Especially since this limits the cap space they have in 2023 to re-sign Zegras, Terry, Drysdale and Comtois. If Scandella's and Zaitsev's contracts were only 1 year, it would be a completely different situation, but the Ducks' big summer when it comes to re-singing their young core is next summer and not in 2024.

I included Comtois is the trade with Calgary, one less guy to sign. Yeah it would be tight in the next year, but they could also move guys to make room. If that’s the case I’d look at Henrique or Silfverberg. I have McTavish is the AHL for a year, just though to make that jump from junior to NHL.

What was he supposed to do? Trade our best player in the middle of a season where we were the 3rd favourite team to win the cup by the start of the playoffs? Despite his constant messaging that he loved Calgary and could see himself retiring here? He can’t help it that Johnny straight up lied to him lol

Like everyone else is saying, they needed to sign him to an extension last offseason. No I don’t think they could move him in season, especially where they were at in the standings. Either way Calgary is in a tough spot now. Was about as ****ty a situation they could have had

From juniors to 2C? Seems like a big step, not saying he can’t do it though. Kinda makes wonder about the Strome signing then. Just going to okay wing?

The problem was he underperformed last year. His 8 year deal woulda been at like 7-8 million if he’d signed last offseason, so he wanted a chance to rebound (and did of course). Unfortunate situation all around really. I don’t think Calgary coulda done anything differently.

What a steal that would have been if they signed him to like an 8x8 last offseason, holy hell

McTavish can't play in the AHL, that's the problem here. He's far too good for the CHL and the NHL is now only logical step.

Of course guys can be moved. But Henrique is better than Jarnkrök anyway and his contract is up in 2024. Why acquire Jarnkrök in the first place? There is no need for him and he doesn't fit the timeline. Same goes for Zaitsev. He sucks, is a cap dump and there are better options. And he isn't needed to reach the cap floor with the other moves you made. Acquiring Zaitsev, Scandella and Jarnkrök doesn't make sense. They take up cap space in 2023, the Ducks aren't competitive anyway and they aren't needed to reach the cap floor. If the Ducks take on contracts, it'll probably be 1-year deals that expire after 22/23.
