1.
MTL
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
WPG
  1. Dvorak, Christian
  2. Kidney, Riley
  3. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Winnipeg gets a good affordable 2C who is great in faceoffs and who is probably good for 45-55 points a year (he played at a 48 point this year on an ABYSMAL Habs team) to replace Dubois’ spot in the lineup. They also get a good B prospect in Kidney (he’s one of the Habs’ best forward prospects and he just had a really good year), an unprotected 2023 first and a 2024 second.
2.
EDM
  1. Hoffman, Mike
Additional Details:
Both players literally have the exact same contract. This is just a pure positional need swap involving two players that are on the block and that wouldn’t fetch an ideal return in this current market.
3.
MTL
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (DET)
DET
  1. Petry, Jeff
Additional Details:
Detroit has been kicking tires on Petry irl. Habs don’t want to retain or trade assets to get rid of him, since he’s legitimately still good (he was back to form under MSL; Ducharme just made everyone look trash). A second for Petry prob makes sense for both teams all things considered.
4.
OTT
  1. Savard, David
Additional Details:
Sens will probably want to clear out some cap space considering they’re going to want to start contending soon and they still have some young guys to sign long term soon like Stutzle. Additionally, it has been made clear that their biggest positional need at the moment is a RHD who plays a defensive style that they can pair up with their more offensive LHD. Savard fits this criteria and could use a system change as well, as he hasn’t worked out in Montreal despite previously putting up elite defensive analytics in Columbus. Zaitsev hasn’t been good in Ottawa and has a more expensive cap hit with one less year left. This is simply just a pure player swap concerning two RHD needing a change of scenery that would easily fit their new team better on a stylistic standpoint.

the sens aren’t gonna trade zaitsev to bring in a guy with even more term. It will probably just be a pure dump. He’d get bought out before a move like this were to happen

Well insiders are saying otherwise as it’s been confirmed that there’s still DET-MTL talks concerning Petry

Insiders? Who exactly? So Yzerman is going to pay Petry 6.25 mil AAV to play on the 3rd D pair?

The extra year on Savard would handcuff them when Debrincat and Stuetzle extensions need to come in, Sens would pass

An okay value offer for PLD, but probably not enough to get Chevy to move Dubois now. The Jets get close to the same value at the TDL in 2 years and don't have to take back a bad contract like Dvorak.

I think Chevy says no since 2 years of Dubois plus his rental return is better than this offer.

It is also possible that Hronek could be dealt to facilitate a Petry trade... only way something like this would happen IMO.

It would have to be a big return for Yzerman to trade Hronek. Top 4 RD's in their prime have a ton of value. Red Wings best Defense prospects are LDs.

Agreed, I'm assuming it would be a case of DET trading for a top player that fills a different positional need and then buying low on Petry who is available. I don't know what that other need could be but theoretically there is a deal out there.

With respect to Petry, he was in the Norris conversation 2020-21 under Julien and still finished the season with a pace of 62 pts in 82 games. He totally sucked under Ducharme last year (as did every player on MTL's roster) but was back to the 60+ point pace under St. Louis.

Edit:
In my eyes Petry is bigger, more physical, better offensively and defensively. I think he is an all around upgrade over Hronek. The catch is Petry is 34 and Hronek is 24, Hronek will improve while Petry could decline... but if Hronek helps you acquire a top forward and you can replace Hronek with Petry I'd say you have to consider it.

Montreal fan is clueless to think yzerman would take Petry and pay for him. Montreal adds in slaf and Suzuki to make the deal even

Petry still has game but at his age the wheels should be falling off soon. Yzerman just spent 20 mil in UFA and he still has to sign Larkin and Bertuzzi to contract extensions. Paying Petry 6.25 mil when he's 34 years old with 3 years left on his deal seems foolish to me.

The only guy you could really pair him with on Detroit is Chiarot but he'll be playing with Seider. Petry likes to carry the puck but I want Edvinsson carrying the puck. I just don't see the fit here.

We can agree to disagree.

Maata and Oesterle would also be good partners for Petry. Petry was actually successful with Mete and Kulak as his parter in MTL as well... both like to skate the puck. Petry can virtually play with any partner honestly he isn't a one dimensional defenseman.

Edit:
The only thing Petry can't really do is play his offside (LD).
