They wouldn't include Pelletier in an Eichel trade, they certainly won't for an Anderson trade.

I get your point. I'm curious, what do you think would be an appropriate return for Anderson? You can propose a trade with any team, not just Calgary.

i will never get why Habs fans overvalue a 28 year old winger with one (1) 20-goal season in the 6 seasons he's been a full-timer yet still somehow has 5 years of $5.5M left. Pelletier looks like a top-6 guy and Valimaki gives you the chance to not roll out an LD depth chart that's Joel Edmundson and 2 rookies, plus it clears about $3M off this year's cap. I honestly don't see why -Calgary- would even offer a package that includes arguable their top prospect - this package is close to what they gave up for Tyler Toffoli, a guy with a much better track record and a cheaper deal.

Yes, he's probably YOUR top prospect but in our depth chart he's not even top 7 and maybe not even top 4 in wingers, they don't need another 5'10 winger prospect

Oh. Well...you might want to look at his stats again, just in case you missed something. Btw, Kent Hughes was after him at the TDL.

And sicne the deadline he added 2 other top 6 wingers better than him slafkovsky and mesar, (they also have roy who's a better prospect sean farrell is possible also a better prospect (high risk high reward) and that's before caufield who can be considered a prospect as well

Not exactly true, they are different kind of players. Anderson is much more physical, which provides more space to Suzuki and Caufield. He's the archetype of a power forward.

Trade for what ? Habs are in a rebuild, they have one of the deepest prospects pool in the NHL and in 2 years if just a bit of them pan out they'll have a very smart skilled and talented team

the only winger i -might- consider a better prospect than Pelletier is Sean Farrell, who's had one good year at Harvard so far. Pelletier put up a point per game in the AHL as a 20 year old, but yeah, Jesse Ylonen is a better prospect than him, sure.

My point still stands: Josh Anderson is 28 and getting paid $5.5M for the next 5 years despite the fact that he does not produce offensively. At some point Habs fans are going to realize that "GMs saying they like his size and speed" isn't the same as "GMs are going to give up the Eichel package for this guy".

1. Why would Calgary want Anderson esp with that awful contract
2. Why would Calgary trade away Pelletier for Anderson when he'll probably be just as good as soon as next season

What’s cute is MTL fans parading Josh Anderson around like he’s Eric Lindros. Guy has a 5.5 million cap hit and has broken 35 points and 20 goals one time. We get it, he’s big and fast, but that doesn’t mean he’s a good hockey player

(Caufield)
Slafkovsky
Mesar
Roy
Farrell

Anderson doesn’t have nearly the value Habs fans think. If he did he would’ve been traded already. His value only goes down the longer they hold onto him

You trade for either established players at positions where there's a need, or for picks. It's all about the timeframe of your rebuild.

Also, prospects are promising but there's also a chance that they will fail to become NHL players. Having more prospects reduces that risk.

Here's what you don't understand... habs don't want to trade him, most fans here don't want to trade him, we're not the ones coming up with trades for him... some fans did try to trade him for the 2nd overall pick befoee the draft but that was delusional, hughes was offerd the 13th pick ++ and said no... we're more than happy to keep him

But that's not your trade proposal... you want to trade a very good prospect who in MTL isn't even a top 4 winger prospect for an established player who they love and will still be under contract when the rebuild is done ?! This seem very counterproductive and opposite to what you just said

Where was it reported they were offered 13++? I saw isles offered 13OA but that was probably with 26OA going back the other way
