Mangiapane Markstrom and Lindholm would probably be traded as well. Minnesota can't afford that

I'd need there to be top 10 protection on the pick, but stylistically Tanev is exactly what Ottawa would be looking for. Age and injury history are definitely concerns and might ultimately kill the deal, but on the surface I don't totally hate it, which is generally a good sign that it makes sense for both sides.

I'm going to make an Ottawa post using this trade to see what it looks like for us.

The injury history was a major concern in Calgary when he signed. It's been a fantastic signing. Tanev is a s tough as the day is long. He consistently elevates his partner, he made Kylington a ton of money. It would make sense for the Flames to deal him in a tear-down, but I do think he's got a chance to be the captain

After re-signing Mikey Anderson and Sean Durzi, the Kings will have at least 14 forwards under contract (plus RFA Gabe Vilardi and promotable prospects in Ontario) and less than half a million dollars of cap space, so Toffoli is a poor fit on two counts.

Yeah it's kind of remarkable that he's played his first two injury free seasons at 31 and 32. That said, that doesn't really negate the fact that he played 70 games one time over the first 11 seasons of his career.

As far as the player, he's been exactly as advertised for Calgary. He's been an absolutely elite shutdown RD his whole career, and if he's playing in 100% of regular season games his contract is great.

In the All-Canadian season he played like 20-30 games with broken ribs. Then in the playoffs he came back in the EDM series with a laundry list of injuries requiring surgery. Really admirable.

As good as Tkachuk is, that's way too much. The Devils aren't going to give up more than one first and one top 6 player

Minnesota declines. Besides Minnesota not taking on cap dump, this has been discussed for years. Guerin doesn't like Sean Monahan's and has zero interest
