They traded their 1st round pick this year for Fiala. If they did this deal, they would have traded away their 2022, 2023, and 2024 1st round picks. They're not going to do that.

I think Flames do not have to rebuild but just need to sign their RFA's and then go out and sign someone like Kadri.

Getting Monahan back healthy is going to also be huge addition for the Flames.

Literally every team declines. No chance blues trade Kyrou away for a guy 1 year from UFA in Tkachuk, can easily pick up him in free agency with the way his contract is probably going to end up. Toronto has no cap space for that deal to re-sign Kylington, they don't even have enough for Sandin right now. Välimäki is being overvalued. Devils aren't giving up a 1st round pick in the strongest draft in recent memory for a backup goalie, they just picked up Vanecek. Kings are also not giving up multiple first round picks after they just spent all their cap the last few offseason, they need cheap ELC players.

For a rebuild add Lindholm Markstrom maybe Mangiapane Toffoli and Tanev being traded

Flames aren't rebuilding with the value in contracts they have. They go into this season with every intention of winning and if they suck, then maybe they'll start trading pieces.

Tkachuk has also had the better playmaker playing with him in Gaudreau the last two years. Tkachuk is good on his own, don't get me wrong, but don't see him as such a high upgrade over Kyrou that it's worth Kyrou plus other picks/players.
