Tkachuk Trades For 5 Teams

Created by: MikeKeenanHatesMe
Team: 2022-23 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 19, 2022
Published: Jul. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Which one is the best return for us?

1 NJ- They have the room and the futures to get this done so they lead the way

2 NYI- A good amount of room but less to offer as far as futures go.

3 Ottawa- Obviously this is tough with the cap but you have to assume they’d be interested

4 St Louis is home so they have to be mentioned even if the cap situation seems brutal

5 Columbus- Probably not a popular idea and I’d make them pay for it but they could do it.

I’m warming up to a STL trade. We could flip Tarasenko for a 1st to a team he wants to be on

Wild trades. I think you got too many pieces on the move in all the trades. Teams don't usually give up 3 roster players + prospects and picks for 1 player.

I agree that we'd likely need to add in a Laine/Tkachuk trade, but that's way too much.

Aside from NJ, every other trade has a cap neutraliser built in to help the other team pay Tkachuk as part of the deal ( Beau from NYI, Batherson and Zub from the Sens, STL Vlad, and Columbus with Goose Nuquist

I’m pretty certain if you guys called Brad the asking price goes up a bit higher than anyone who calls minus Edmonton or Toronto

These are way too many players. The trade won’t be this big. It’ll be a good NHL player, an A prospect and Probly a 1st as a starting point. Give or take a pick or prospect

For Washington my starting offer would be

    Wilson
    McMichael
    1st
    3rd

Far too much of the CBJ's future for one player. I get that Laine is seen as a reduced value player around here, but I wouldn't give up the opportunity to put him on a line and powerplay with Gaudreau to get Tkachuk. I'd especially not do it if I have to add a #12 OA from 2 weeks ago, an NHL ready goalie and a 1st in what is supposed to be a very deep draft.

Jackets easily decline. I would do Laine plus a small add but that’s it. Maybe Laine, Nyquist, a second, and a third.

Calgary isn’t doing you any favours lol. If you wanted to reunite the dynamic duo you’re going to pay for it. If not someone will send us a good package and he goes elsewhere

That’s fine. Jackets aren’t desperate for him. Would rather see what Laine and gaudreau can do together without sacrificing a ton of futures.

Yep it’s a lot and it’s more than I’d want from insert random team not named Toronto or Edmonton HERE but I can’t see the Flames sending him out there unless it’s an overpay

If I was in your shoes I’d be doing the same thing. For the record I hold no grudge against the Jackets. I’m ticked off at our own management because I knew this was going to happen this time last year and he should have been traded then

Yeah once I saw gaudreau come to the jackets I had a feeling matty was getting traded. Makes more sense why Johnny left. He probably knew matty was leaving and didn’t want to go through a rebuild/retool. Sucks losing gaudreau for nothing but if the flames go for a rebuild they have a ton of valuable assets that would greatly accelerate a rebuild starting with matty.

We need to clean house and start over. New GM is a must at this point. When you lose the top scorer on your team for free it’s time to find another job. Beaker can coach this season and then bring in a younger coach for the rest of the rebuild.

I don’t see the blues giving up Tarasenko plus neighbors plus bolduc plus a 1st. It destroys their prospect pool

Tarasenko is the only player they could move to get the cap space to sign him.

Think that's a slightly excessive from the Devils pov.
I think it'd be fair if Severson was swapped out for Tatar, Flames could easily flip him for a 2nd or a 3rd at TDL.

Atleast the blues keep Kyrou in this scenario. It makes no sense to have to move Vladi to make room, Kyrou and not resigning Perron all off the right side + picks/prospects also. That would be losing way too much in one off season while only adding Tkachuk who I see taking a step back from last season. This is still a huge package for Calgary (maybe a bit much) and moving Vladi especially if they retain would likely net them an additonal 1st plus. Bolduc and Neighbours are studs and both ready to make an impact by next season (Neighbours is ready now, Bolduc maybe but think he has the higher ceiling)
