I honestly couldn’t tell you! It made no sense! I’ve been saying that since his rookie season! They were unwilling to let him make mistakes. It was pathetic coaching and poor development.

Isles have been pretty good on the PK and Barzal is not good on faceoffs which can be really important on a PK.

Then why isn't he killing penalties? Pettersson kills penalties

I mean he was a much more complete player in juniors and he’s shown flashes of it in the past. It’s hard to see if you don’t watch them on a regular basis tho. And we are not asking you to do that either.

Bringing his junior days into this? My point still stands, I'd like to see him do it at the NHL level, which is a whole new beast

We have had great goaltending and defense, and just enough depth scoring to succeed. If Barzal was given better line mates (not leo Komarov) I have no doubt we would have beaten Tampa in at least one of the conference finals and then went on to win the cup. Worst linemates in the league is a stretch though, because Anders Lee and Jordan Eberle (his normal linemates during those seasons) are solid players, just not top line guys.

Then I guess winger depth for the Isles has been another issue for them, at least until Wahlstrom pans out I suppose

He’s much better on the face offs when he doesn’t split them

Barzal isn't good at faceoffs? That arguably changes the conversation a bit

I meant last year he had terrible linemates. Lee fit poorly with Barzal since Eberle was gone.

Tavares didn’t get good at face offs for a very long time in NY. Same with his penalty killing ability.

So it's an organizational issue?

Last year was his best year on faceoffs splitting with Lee.

Lee played mostly with Nelson last year so that’s not the case

Pettersson is not very good on FOs either.

He was good at the end of the season without Lee on face offs. I’m confident with Barzal the best is yet to come.

Let’s get to the more pressing issue than the Isles trade. That CBJ deal is horrendous for VAN.

Again, stop taking that stuff out on other fanbases, it's not something they control

Not taking anything out on you. The fact you don’t like being criticized isn’t my concern.

It's not that I don't like being criticized, I just don't like being criticized unjustly. Big difference

Again you want to defend the Dobson trades. But you want to attack me for calling them out even tho u admit the offers weren’t fair lol. You’ve been walking back everything u said this entire time lol.

Worst linemates in the league? Then why weren't the Islanders a lottery team last year? Or for the last several years for that matter?

Barry Trotz would never allow a young forward to kill penalties , even though Barzal would probably be good at it.

Last season Barzal had some of the worst linemates in the league. He was among the league leaders in high danger passes, but in the 300's for on ice shooting % . His linemates couldn't finish the chances he created.

The isles made it to the ECF because they had elite goaltending and one of the best D cores in the league.

I never defended any Dobson to Vancouver trade, you're no less misguided in your judgement than you're accusing me of being

How? You’d be getting back two recent 1st rounders and one player who is expected to be a stud. Johnson is a top 10 prospect regardless of the source. Those guys rarely miss

Pettersson was 44% last year to Barzal 46%, let’s just say they can both improve.

So Canucks fans who propose bad ideas are ignorant? And the people who criticize them are so mean to you!!! Got it lmao.
