Dallas shouldn’t trade Hintz for Hronek

If I'm Detroit I take that all day.

You should swap Berggren and Seguin though, Berggren I don't think is really a centre but better on the wing.

Hronek has looked really good, but then looked really bad. That said he hasn't had a good steady partner with him. I'm really hoping Maatta will be paired with him and really allow Hronek to flourish.

I don't know how I feel about this from a Detroit perspective... leaves a hole at RHD for us and I'm really high on Berggren, plus Hintz is not going to be cheap and we have a bunch of big extensions coming up (Larkin, Bertuzzi, Seider), so from a cap perspective, it's a tough call as well. With that said, Hintz is really good.

On any note, good job coming up with a trade proposal that actually gives pause. So many trades on this site are no-brainers one way or the other, which usually means they're unrealistic and at least this one has some guts to the value and fit both ways.

It’s more about Hintz being Dallas’s first line center.

Yeah I'm just trying to ease the idea of Detroit getting hintz as he has been one of my favourite players over the last 3 years.

I would take it. There could be other options for stop gaps by that time. Maybe Tuomisto is ready? Either way a chance to get an elite first line centre with size is definitely worth it.

Let's pump the brakes there... he's great, but he's not an *elite* first line center, hell, I'm not even sure he's truly a center, as he's been used mostly on the wing and just started being used as a center more recently.

I think I'd take it too, I was more just commenting that this is a good post, because it actually makes you think.

That is not nearly enough to get you Hintz

Would have to attach a first and someone like Vrana, but even then i'm not sure dallas would do it as they need Hintz as their 1C

That's fair and I don't blame you guys for not wanting to move him, but if that were the case, then there would definitely not be a trade to be had, as that's WAY too much.

Maybe it could be Hronek, Vrana and a 2nd but still no real reason for the Wings to do it either because y'alls top 6 is deep now

Yeah I really hope Berggren turns into something like debrincat or similar. Hronek has some real potential I just think he needs a good steady partner, hopefully that's Maatta for now.

I agree and would like to point out this was posted by a Leaf's fan and not a Detroit fan.

I know Red Wings fans wouldn’t pull this **** lol. Worst I’ve ever seen was the Barzal for Veleno deals and that was all based off a joke tweet lol

While I agree Dallas shouldn't do this but with Vrana and 2nd you've swung the deal as far the other way as it was to start.

Hintz will, if he already isn't, be a top 15 center in the NHL who is elite at both ends of the ice. A second line winger (who is 2 years away from UFA), second pairing defenseman, and a first or second round pick for a young 1C is a good starting point. Look at what Tkachuk got Calgary. Not saying that Hintz is Tkachuk but the return would be in the same ballpark. Huby>Vrana, Weegar>Hronek so honestly Detroit may need to throw in a mid-level prospect. Either way don't think this trade really makes sense for either team in the short term

Hintz has considerably more value than Hronek. He’s an elite number 1 centre who’s good at every aspect of the game plus has size.

Easy decline from Dallas.

I really like our center prospects but they’re not a year away from making Hintz expendable. And if we ever do trade Hintz I hope we get a much better player back than Hronek
