I won't be at all surprised if that Florida pick ends up around 15th.

Winnipeg would have noincentive to trade Dubois for crap. They'll move him to a team that offers quality.

Montreal has no leverage at all in this deal, so offers of garbage will go nowhere.

What do you mean? You think Florida will be one of the top 3 teams in the league?

I don't know that I have them in the bottom 3...Bottom 10 easily, but there's a few prettttty bad teams out there. If Price plays and the Habs are healthy, they'll be better than they were last year.

In the Atlantic? I wouldn't bet against it. They're still very good, they've got a solid goaltending tandem, and I'd say rumors of their demise have been greatly exaggerated.

They lost their #2 dman and after Ekblad who's kinda injury prone that defense is suspect.
Marchment moved on, traded a ton of futures, have little cap space and hired a coach who's not known for letting the offense fly which is where their success came from.

Maybe guys like White, Balcers, Tierney and Cousins can help fill out that lineup but Idk, they look like a candidate to regress to me.

Jets Decline
This gets beat, easily
Dvorak might have value to MTL.. not to WPG… he isn’t a need, want, or desire for the Jets

The copium is hilarious at this point. Dubois has 2 years until hes a FA. He is gonna be doing 1 year deals until he is. But his high cap hit an qualifying offer will make it hard for teams to trade for him as a rental assuming the Jets arent completely blowing up the team and wont retain 50%.

The Jets legit need 2 top 6 forwards if Dubois is traded. So tell me again how he isnt a need

Agreed. The Montreal offers are hilarious at this point. They have no leverage to be able to force the Jets to take a below market value offer and the Jets will have no problem at all moving Dubois next summer for quality pieces that they want.

Dvorak isn’t top 6 in WPG… and isn’t worth a thing to us.
I, and many others, have been saying it for months, but the deluded Habs fans can’t grasp that he’s not as valuable as they want him to be… like leaf fans with Kerfoot.

I think the defence is the only thing that I'd worry about, and the current 6 guys that are there probably fit the Maurice scheme just fine. It also wouldn't surprise me if when things shake out, they make a deal to upgrade the back end.

Even without Marchment (major regression candidate, IMO-don't get me wrong, I love the way he plays, but I don't think those numbers hold up), I'd say that the Panthers top 9 could match up with just about any team in the league. Bobrovsky was solid last year, and I'd imagine Knight could have a large season as well.

I don't know. They could regress, but I don't think they're the 15+ points worse that they'd have to be to end up out of the top 3 in that division.

Guess so, we'll see.

I've been watching the Maurice/Kompon train wreck for awhile, not sure it's gonna work too well for Florida but time will tell I guess.. lol

Other than Montreal I'd say the rest of the Atlantic Division got better, the Panthers won't have as many easier matches as they did last season.

Yeah, I think my thoughts on how it'll play out are:
-Toronto/Tampa
-Toronto/Tampa (Both are still very good and I'm don't think Murray/Samsonov are bad enough to sink the Leafs offence)
-Florida
-Boston (yeah, lots of injuries to start, but they're like the Pens-Every time I write them off they just continue to be good enough)
-Ottawa (Much improved, but I don't think their D is strong enough yet, and I really don't trust Forsberg/Talbot to keep it together for long stretches)
-Detroit (Improved, but still a year away...I'm not buying on Husso duplicating his numbers behind that D-core either)
-MTL (If they're healthy...if not, whooooops).
-Buffalo (Sure they've improved, but that goaltending tandem is terrifying)

Sabres fans won't be happy with me, and I apologize for that, especially considering I think that they're the most likely to make a huge jump in 23/24.

I agree that the Sabres are kinda overhyped coming into next season because of a nice quarter season. They're either last or second last, not 30 points in front of the Habs like Sabres fans are claiming.

If you guys are healthy, you're probably (around) a .500 team (IMO). Sabres are going to have some good stretches, and some awful stretches, and are going to live and die based on whether Comrie's 19 game sample size last year was for real or not. I'm confident that UPL will be a solid NHLer at some point, but for now, that goaltending tandem behind a young D-core has a pretty low ceiling (Again, IMO)

Have I seen them? No...I wouldn't even be able to guess where they're all it this summer. I'm pretty sure they're likely all spread out taking some well deserved family time, but I could be wrong?

But in all seriousness, good goaltending and that forward core should absolutely mitigate any potential disasters. If losing Weegar and 20 games of Ben Chiarot is the difference between a 122 point season and they fall back to a wildcard spot, I'd be pretty shocked.
