And the Hawks aren't eating $7,500,000 x 8 years on Rielly than eating $5,250,000 on Patrick Kane as well.

Toronto improves both up front and on the backend, and Chicago gets more for Rielly than they would for Kane.

Yeah makes total sense for Rielly to waive for Chicago, Just after signing a lucrative deal only to be dealt to another team of his own choosing. Sorry doesn't work that way.
