Carrying Trades into the future

Created by: Prison_Goalie_Rick
Team: 2023-24 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 30, 2022
Published: Aug. 30, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The trades are prior to the 2022 season during training camp. JT plays 1C and Chychrun 1RD.

2023 summer, CBJ let Vlad test UFA and he gets paid, so Chychrun slots over to the left side and Jiricek comes up. Maybe Texier comes back?

2024 summer, Voraceck, Roslovic, and Robinson go to UFA and Jackets spend on re-signing Johnson, Sillinger, Marchenko and Blankenburg. Vronkov moves to 3C. Del Bel Belluz, Dumais, Boyd, Rysavy and Malatesta could be pushing for bottom 6 spots in camp.

That Miller contract has significant disaster potential.

That Miller contract is regretted before the ink is dry. He's not a 99pt player. He's a player who scored 99 points once in a year when scoring was up across the league. And going into his 30s? Absolute albatross.

If he's playing between Laine and Gaudreau he's going to be a 100 pt player. For at least the next 3-4 years, maybe 5. Sure the last year, maybe two could be rough, but that's how a lot of big contracts go. To sign star players, you usually have to give some term. 6 years really isn't that bad.

Wait even the Chychrun one? If we could make the cap work I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Although I'm not familiar with the Jackets, I know for sure that they will decline with the Canucks. In terms of Arizona, I just think its too much of a ask for a player.
