I'd add more to the deal if it meant they would, how much of a sweetener do you think it would take?

Montreal is not going to pay a 1st to rent a D-man when they're not competing for a playoff spot and Arizona is not going to retain on Chychrun for that return.

Pretty sure Faber is already committed to playing in college this year, Addison seems to be ready as I've seen his name on lists for rookies to watch out for this season, so chances are he's the one who will be playing in that spot you have Faber in.

Why would wild want kerfoot? You put him on the fourth line when he’s a middle 6 soild forward. Just keep jost, there’s no point to the trade

Honestly just chose Montreal for it since he has been linked to them in free agency next year. In terms of retention, how much more do you think? Another prospect (khusnidinov/lambos/o'rourke/etc.), or more picks?

Arizona isn't going to retain on any of his contract, unless maybe you are adding in Kaprisov+a 1st or a prospect taken in the 1st round while they add Keller. They are a poor franchise, real dollars matter too them not just cap space.

He has, yes, was more thinking after the season.

I doubt montreal would risk investing a 1st into a player they could possibly get a better return at the trade deadline if he gets injured they lose the 1st for nothing, this could only work if the pick is conditional or something

Well if the Dumba trade comes with an contract extention at the right price, I think they could go with it. But only if. MTL needs a RD that could play top pair.
Otherwise, what about:
Dadonov + 2nd RD + 3rd RD <-> Dumba

I believe that the understanding was that Faber might be in college for a couple of years when they acquired him. Even if Faber was available, after the college season, it would still be too early to just trade Addison I think.

I think MTL has a ton of RD prospects that they are better off playing, and probably can't afford Dumba even if he's taking like 5m. Getting Dumba would kind of seem like a move to fast-track a rebuild that just started.

I would be incredibly happy with that return. Don’t see why MTL spends assets in players at this point in the rebuild though.

For Montreal? They're not planning to compete, they aren't going to be in the market for Dumba unless he's far cheaper. For another team? IDK. I doubt any team moves a 1st for a rental until they have a good idea where they're going to finish this season. The 2023 draft is apparently very deep.

I have a hunch that if the Wild are a borderline playoff team, they sell Dumba if they can get a 2nd or more. I think Addison will be playing 12-14 min a night and getting PP time and Faber can fill any gap a Dumba trade makes.

No way they move him if they’re in a playoff spot though.

I think the dream of a 1st for Dumba sailed some time ago, regardless where he goes. Some team not named the Habs will pony up a Bennett type deal at the TDL.
