Can't see why the defending Stanley cup champs would trade out a guy they just resigned after buying him last deadline, let alone for the RD who is the expendable one in your system, a 30 points rental, and a distant mid round pick.

Avs have no reason to trade Manson who is a perfect partner for both Byram and Girard. Especially not for that paltry return.

No need to pay for a Manson that is showing signs of decline after he signed his deal.

That Montreal trade is awful. The best player there by some distance is Staal. C'mon.

Dallas... why does Dallas do this? I'd love a free Joel Kiviranta, so why are they taking on Gardiner when they need to re-sign Robertson?

How has Manson shown signs of decline since he signed his deal, he hasn’t even played one game since signing it this off season?

Stars don’t have cap space. Stars don’t need lefties. And that sixth would be a first if you wanted to dump that contract

Montreal can do whatever cause Carolina aren't offering one of the best play drivers and shut down guys in the league for spare parts

No, you misunderstand. He was declining before his deal. There's no need to trade for him (because he has shown signs of decline) after he has signed that deal.

He was good in COL down the stretch and he was great in the playoffs hence the extension. Is he a top pairing guy anymore no, is he a physical 2nd pairing guy that is super sound physically and kills penalties, hell yeah. But after watching him up close I would say the losing ANA had started to wear on him.

His underlyings were worse in Colorado than Anaheim, and that's my concern. It's not even the cap hit. It's the trade protection and the fact that deal lasts for 4 years. It's going to be HELLA ugly when he's not an NHL-caliber player in year 3.

I think that’s quite a bit of projecting on your part, but I get some of the concern.

I think you're looking at a small sample size and believing the best QoT in the league didn't affect him. He's been on a decline for years, which is fine, he's still a solid top 4 option now. But he's going to be 31 when the year starts. Concerns about his decline are more than justified. I think you're doing a lot of projecting to think he's going to stop the rot all of a sudden because he is in Colorado. I think they can cope with him better than Anaheim could, but I still don't think he's defeating father time for the next 4 years
