If scheifele and helly move, i would cut deeper possibly at deadline or draft, and possibly pionk/demelo/ehlers/Connor/Dubois. I would want Daws over blackwood and possibly add in another prospect goalie in another trade and have quite the competition going forward.

No thanks from Boston. Makes them have more cap trouble than they already have and Gustafson won’t play over the logjam of bottom six caliber forwards already on the roster. Definitely not worth a first, which will probably be fairly early.

No from NJ.

If the Devils have goaltending issues again this season... It's very doubtful that they'll be in the playoff race, meaning they won't be buying. Also just too high of an asking price.

Take both. Blackwood and Daws. Or, Blackwood and Brennan. Some upside in all of them. And NJD should have no problem sending the 2023 1st (maybe top-3 protection) if it improves goaltending situation this much.

Devils aren't gonna be buyers this year per GM Fitz, and even if they're miraculously contenders it'll be because their goaltending is good enough that this deal isn't worth it. The Devils would need an irrefutable offer to trade Holtz and their first in the same deal.

If the Devils are good enough to spend their first, it will be because their goaltending is good enough. In that scenario the first is better spent elsewhere. I understand that it's Hellebuyck.
