$14.5M to goalies for 3 seasons, with Lundell and Reinhart coming due at the same time.

Not going to be pretty in Florida.

What are they doing? They must have laid some groundwork to move Bobrovsky, because that is ridiculous.

The cap will go up and Bob will be their only bad contract next season. They have a lot of players with trade value

considering his games played, stats, and the FLA cap situation, he actually managed to get a better deal than Oettinger? Not liking Zito's moves this off-season...

Agreed. And Paul Maurice as the coach. This team looks like the 2021-2022 Vegas

Florida is trying to stay relevant while dragging a gigantic $30 million dollar anchor behind them.

Seems like a major overpayment to me, For a guy with only 36 career games under his belt.

The cap will go up, surely, but Lundell is likely in the Stutzle contract territory, so, his salary will outgrow the cap growth.

Putting Florida in tough position, along with signing Reinhart to fill out the roster.

Bob needs to be moved, but Florida has no picks to pay someone to take on that contract, and he has a full NMC.

To remain competitive, they should consider shipping Knight out and getting a pick and another top goalie prospect (Askarov, Levi back, Cossa, wallstedt) who would be ready for a pay raise once Bob is done.

Like I said, they have players with trade value (Bennett, Duclair, Montour) who can be shipped out for picks and they can be replaced with younger , cheaper and possibly more effective players.

I see Duclair and Montour being traded next offseason, Bennett the following season when Lundell needs a new contract. That leaves them with a lot of cap space, even if Lundell gets 8.5 x 8

I see the top 9 looking like this in 24-25 and they won’t re-sign Reinhart

Balcers-Barkov-Tkachuk
Verhaeghe-Lundell-Sameskovich or Trade/UFA
Denisenko-Luostarainen-UFA

Trading Knight would be a terrible idea, Bob is hit or miss and Knight has the potential to be a top 3 goaltender in the game

you're making my point, trading veteran production to relying on young talented guys to take the next step is not a great idea. it's a hit or miss option, if you miss, you burn the years of your contracts of your core guys while trying to retool (think Toronto, or Edmonton)

While I agree Knight is a great goalie with a high ceiling, cap strapping yourself to almost $15M in goalies, while never truly letting Knight hit a stride because you can't ride Bob and his $10M cap hit on the pine for 55-60 games a season without suffering elsewhere in the lineup.

Florida is in this position because they panicked and jumped on the FA train to make a splash.... it sucks, but they gotta figure this out, and with $15M in goaltending, I don't see them advancing in the east, 2023-24, nearly 45% of their cap is tied up in 2 forwards, 1 defenseman and 2 goalies... that's not normally a path to success frown

Relying on young talented players to take the next step (especially when their underlying numbers show they’re on the verge of breaking out) is a much better strategy than trading the young player and keeping good, but not close to elite veteran players.

Zito and the coaching staff do not care about Bob to that extent, Zito didn’t give him the contract. The best path to keeping them contenders is to do everything possible to help knight hit his ceiling. They don’t care about offending Bob.

Every single one of their star players provides excess value on their contracts which means having Bob on the books isn’t as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. Ekblad makes 7.5, he’s worth 10-11 mill per. Barkov makes 10 mill per, hes easily worth 12 mill. Tkachuks cap hit is 9.5, he’s a 11-11.5 mill dollar player. Reinhart 6.5 mill cap hit, playing like an 8-8.5 mill player. Florida is in a good spot. Their core is young and filled with tons of high end talent. Barkov (27), Tkachuk (24), Lundell (21) , Verhaeghe (26), Ekblad (27) , Knight (22)
