Dach Mesar Beck Hutson Engstrom - Did anyone do better than the Habs at the draf

Description
So Slafkovsky has not shown his quality quite yet. We're all still hopeful and very aware it takes big forwards longer to make the jump.

But did anyone expect Dach, Mesar, Beck, Hutson... It's like 4 stud players who all seem like locks to make the NHL for a long time.

Dach - did not expect anything like the player I'm getting to know in the preseason. He's more physical than I expected. He's turning around his Faceoffs. He looks like he's gonna bring a lot of assists by creating space and making good passes.

Mesar - so shifty and sneaky. He's got wheels. He's got a shot that's precise. He's gonna be a good one.

Beck - Wow this guy doesn't make any mistakes and is making the most of his opportunities. He deserves to have a few goals by now.

Hutson - 3 assists last night in his first NCAA game. You just feel like this kid is gonna beat the odds.

Engstrom - Kind of a bonus but if this kid is half as good as he thinks he is he's gonna do some damage in the NHL.

It's like we're getting paid back for years of bad drafting all in 1 offseason. It feels great!

It depends what you mean. For what was expected given their position, Minnesota, Carolina, and Seattle. If you mean in terms of pure takeaways, probably not.

You never know what’s gonna happen
Look at a recent draft MTL had (2017) :
1st RD pick : Ryan Poehling - MVP WCJ Hat trick first game - Traded
2nd RD pick : Joni Ikonen - Injuries
2nd RD pick : Josh Brook - Injuries
3rd RD pick : Cale Fleury - Look promising, now he’s an AHLer
7th RD pick : Cayden Primeau - Excellent pick but still not NHL ready
