It doesn't look that 'stupid' to me. Kotkaniemi is very much a question mark around the league, nobody outside of Carolina understands the logic around their long-term commitment to the player. Morrow is also just a B+ prospect, nothing more.

Terrible take. Hill and Broisoit were backups in the last 2 years. Blackwood was a starter. Blackwood easily is more valuable than both Hill and Brosoit

Context matters, can't base it solely off of stats. Backups gets more rest between games, get easier matchups, etc.
Brian Elliot had a lower GAA than Vasilevskiy. Eric Comrie had a better save percentage than Juuse Saros. Must mean Elliot is better than Vasy and Comrie is better than Saros

Boeser is coming off a career down year, and Bratt is coming off a career up year. Makes no sense for New Jersey

But beyond that, he only played in 25 games last year, same exact number as Nico Daws on his own team, same exact number as Adin Hill, one more than Laurent Brossoit, who both had better stats. That isn't a starter.

Easy pass. The poolman deal is an anchor, but Carolina already have most of what Horvat offers in Jordan Staal. Plus, Morrow straight up holds more value to the Canes than any rental. Kotkaniemi has been incredible in camp and preseason. This is really bad.
