Created by: PHILLYSZN
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 9, 2022
Published: Oct. 9, 2022

Description
If this plan were to be executed beginning with the 2022-23 season, the Philadelphia Flyers could be looking at a Rangers-esque turnaround that takes only a couple years.

Heading into the 2023 draft, Philly will have 5 first round picks over the next two years with young talent to work with.

Certainly the Canucks aren't making that trade. And no contending team has the cap for Atkinson.and his multi year contract Moral of the story don't count your first rounders before they are hatched (or something like that)

Vancouver declines. We aren't giving up a 1st and 2nd round pick for another LHD who will be a free agent at the end of the season.

I guess you missed the memo, Vancouver needs RHD not LHD like Sanheim.

In all honesty I saw Friedman mention that Vancouver and Toronto would likely be calling if Sanheim was made available. And actually he does have some experience on the right side so he could more than likely play either

So you’re not interested in that price for a rental, I get it. How would you feel if he came with an extension somewhere in the range of $5Mx3?

We have too many LHD as it is, Hughes, OEL, Dermott, Stillman and Rathbone. We can't afford to spend $5M on a 3rd pair defenseman.
I hear LA is looking for a LHD, might be a better fit there.

Sanheim's strength is still on his left side not right side. So it still doesn't make sense to give up a 1st and 2nd round pick for a LD that's not needed.

Honestly if Vancouver could get Sanheim signed to a reasonable extension they should do this now.

And to all those saying Van needs a RHD well there simply isn't any true top 4 RHD available, if they want to improve their defense which they should then playing someone on their offhand will simply have to happen, Ethan Bear isn't a top 4 dman.

If he was interested in signing in Vancouver, the Canucks would just wait until July to sign him for free instead of draining the remains of our limited draft picks

Dallas is currently over the cap by 1.5 million or so, please explain if the send a guy making a million and take back a guy with retention making 3.5 million, how do they make their cap work?

It's obvious that you don't read and just say things. I was replying to his comment on my comment, not his later comment. And he said Sanheim has played the right side, not that he would. Vancouver needs a right shot defenseman that plays the right side, not a left shot defenseman that can maybe play the right side.

The value is fair in the Canucks trade and I wouldn't be surprised to see them reach out to Philly about Sanheim. But I just can't see them giving up another 1st and 2nd. We've given up too many the past few years.

Honestly this is the best response I’ve gotten. I feel like the value is very realistic and that’s mostly what I was going for

I manually set each team to their HEALTHY 12F, 6D, 2G rosters to ensure that cap would not be an issue. As it currently stands right now with the default non-set rosters, then yeah obviously it wouldn’t work

Ya that looks like perfectly fair value to me. Especially with the salary retention. I think a deal with the Canucks would probably contain one of our wingers, Horvat(unlikely but depends on our start to the season and how negotiations are going on an extension), or Rathbone.

I like Sanheim and I don't think they're going to find a RHD on the market so he's probably as good as any potentially available.
