Would explain the slow start

“Matthews is believed to have been playing through some nagging injury issues early in the year"

I have even liked Kallgren as well.
But what happens with him in your opinion if Samsonov is extended?

If/When Samsonov gets extended Kallgren gets traded for a low pick in the summer

As for 2023-2024 run Murray/Samsonov then in 2024-2025 Sammy can have the net and either one of our prospects shows he can be a backup or we bring Murray back on a cheap 1-2 year deal

Or you just don't qualify Kallgren at the end of the year and he goes elsewhere. Don't see the point in moving on from him earlier than you need to, especially with his waiver exemption. Woll seems like the 3rd stringer for next season if Samsonov is extended, plus Cavallin, Petruzzelli, McKay, Peksa, and Akhtyamov all look decent

Why do that. Trade his rights as hes an RFA and teams will be looking at him as a backup option or a guy they could use in their system. Remember we got something for Sparks when we traded him and Florida got a 5th for Hutchinson as a #3. Just letting him walk seems a bit silly

And if not I would debate signing him and risk losing him to waivers.

Trade route is where I would go as teams often like bringing in guys like him and rarely mind losing low picks

Ahh I see what you mean. When you guys talked about "extending" Samsonov, I thought you meant in-season, thus the comment about keeping Kallgren

Interesting take.
So you don't even want to consider Kallgren, especially since he will be more cost effective.

I'm not saying your wrong bit consider last years Vezina winner is ****e right now but definitely not him alone thus far... I'd be hesitant at least

Goalies are easy. Wait until the off season so we have a larger sample.
I think Shelly loses his waiver exempt status so we will need a new #3 no matter who we go with, but id stick with Murray/Sammy for now

What did you think of Kings putting Petersen on wavers?

I think he was showing red flags before they signed him to that contract, despite his previously good work. If he made <1M id take a shot but at 2.5@5 im good

I genuinely feel bad for Jack. He secured the bag, but he seems miserable. As a fan of the person that Jack is, I really hope he turns it around

Oilers fans just want him gone at this point and the narrative has soured around him. I honestly think in the summer there may be a trade as I dont think the relation is healthy for either side. Or they figure it out with him but poor McDavid be looking and going why should I stay we just seem to get worse

That said thank **** we didnt extend him

Cannot disagree - but I think Campbell found magic in a bottle here in Toronto and if he signed for 4@$3+M or 2@$4+M he may have made the contract worthwhile.
He chose the money and who can blame him.
Bunting may be in a similar situation.

I think Campbell is a goalie whose emotions get the best of him. I think in Toronto yes he would have been better than he was in Edmonton but I think Murray's experience is coming in more handy.

I look at Tolvanen and im like fine he can slot in over Engvall but then I see Granlund and im like gimmie

As 2 years ago we were heavily linked to him but just couldnt make the money work. Now we technically can

Would be a good 3c. But in general I want guys who we know for sure can make an impact not more gambles. Give me guys who u can bring in slot next to Tavares or Matthews and bam u got something. Honestly what Tampa did with Coleman and Goodrow is something I want to explore.

Cant do it this year but Alexandre Texier is someone I would explore

Maybe Garland isnt such a great idea......

https://canucksarmy.com/news/conor-garland-somehow-gone-canucks-most-effective-5v5-player-least

Its tough now as im scared this will continue with us. But then again a change of scenery may just be what he needs

Got to respect Cooper he knows when he faces a strong team

His comments on game 6 highlight that

And I like how he hints one of the 2 penalties was meh but hey u take it.

Should be a fun game and probs a preview for round 2

There are very few players who have less GAx than Kerfoot, yet one of them is a guy that Leafs fans torch Dubas about every other day...

I don't think this does what you thought it did. Hyman still has 9 goals and by this account should have more - primarily due to his knack for getting shots off in high danger situations. Kerfoot has 1 goal due to absolutely abysmal finishing and is expected to have more because it's pretty damn hard to expect less than 1.

Ironically last 2 games Kerfoot's been putting up points yes no goals but hey if he sets up others for goals and wracks up assists im good for now. Like if he ended 8 goals and 30 assists its not the end of the world for a 3rd liner.

Watch both guys gonna score tonights game

Leafs love to do backpassing but sometimes when they chose to do it is questionable at best
