Panthers' offence has been good enough without Duclair that I believe they can afford to trade him for a defenceman.

Florida needs help on the LD side, Kylington is a great second pairing defenceman, who is also young and on an affordable deal. Florida will be like 2 million above the cap and that can be fixed with either LTIR money from possible injuries, a little bit of a Kucherov or if it has to come down to it, trading Hornqvist somewhere along a 2nd round pick.

Calgary needs a top 6 winger and Duclair is just that while being on a very affordable deal. Flames' defence is too deep to give Kylington a real chance in the top 4 so I think he's expendable for the right price. Before trade can happen Duclair has to get healthy (likely around December) and prove the injury hasn't slowed him down.

subtracting the timeline part that's kinda a 2way road. Duclair still needs to return for Florida too and he's going to be out a while. I personally think it could be an interesting swap though

Absolutely, interesting concept for sure, little different in terms of teams have seen timelines in Achilles recovery before. Obviously teams who are interested in Kylington would be privy to information regarding a timeline or what is happening but on a surface level fan perspective I would be shocked if he's moved this year out of respect for his situation.
