absolutely not,

Mackinnon hates Garland, he would never be allowed to play on the same team as him
that is a gross gross over payment for Domi, such a bad deal for the avs

Hawks arent doing that trade. They don't exist to do the AVEs favors. You trade Compher if he's worth something.

How about you two meet in the middle and agree with me on the Domi - Compher deal 🌚.

They signed Domi to be reflipped at the deadline. Here they get an earlier 3rd, a decent prospect in JLF, and Compher who they can retrade for assets

He's a AVEs fan. Hawks don't need or want Compher unless real assets come with. The AVEs are the ones asking. The Hawks aren't asking if JT is available. Everyone knows he's available

They’re paying for both the money retained (2.25 mil in total) and for the minor upgrade from Compher to Domi. Kaut/Maltsev have little to no value and I just included them to fit under the cap but they realistically could just be placed on waivers.

As for Garland, unless I’m mistaken, it was only one incident of a fight (again, if I’m wrong and there is a clear consistent rivalry between them please tell me). One fight between two guys from over 2 years ago I wouldn’t say prohibits them from being teammates, as we see plenty of former enemies turn teammates and succeed greatly. If Garland really doesn’t work out then a forward similar to Garland (non rental, 4-5 mil cap hit, above average 2nd liner) can be subbed into the deal

avs are not the ones asking anything for Domi, lets nip that in the butt as well
and no compher is not available, he is one of sakic and bednars most loved players. That is just straight up lying if you are claiming "everyone knows JT is available"

MacKinnon does not like Garland, it goes back to Shattuck St. Marys days,
He legit hates that guy,

Sorry but if you're going for both Domi and Garland, You're hardly going all in. Neither one is a major upgrade for the AVs.

They did sign Domi to be flipped. I just don't think this is what they're willing to accept. Domi's playing well at the #1C with that Hawks. I just think they'll be able to get more. I'm not saying the 1st, but if you want the retention...2nd plus JLF. He's a fine prospect. BUT the whole well JT has to be part...ok you're paying more for us to take him. If not, the AVEs should trade him and see what they can get. The Hawks aren't applying some intrinsic invisible value to him. He's cap space. That's it.

COL doesn’t trade for Garland, there’s already bad blood between him and MacKinnon. Not to mention Behrens is COLs ONLY NHL projecting D prospect and is probably not going anywhere. And if COL were to move the 23 1st and Behrens, it would be for a piece of greater value than Garland.

I like the idea of acquiring Domi but I don’t think the trade needs to be as complicated as the one you’ve purposed. Too many pieces.

I think this is the best take in the thread.

Garland is a poor fit in Colorado, especially if you’re giving up maybe your two best trade chips for him.

If Colorado is targeting Domi, I would doubt Compher is involved. Chicago has no value for him and he’s the type of utility rental that teams go out of their way for. Could be a deal there that’s something more simple.

I know they were cap moves but Bjorkstrand and Pacciorety fetched a fraction and I mean fraction of the price proposed for Garland who is significantly worse than those guys. Besides MacKinnon genuinely disliking him and his game not fitting the Avs that’s just a bad deal value wise. And Domi isn’t Foudy and Maltsev better than Compher. But bigger picture is you traded a 1st in a stacked class (and their only pick in the first 4 rounds in the last 2 drafts), their top d prospects, a versatile middle 6 forward that plays all positions, and their best internal C prospect for a couple of non impact players. If you’re parting with that sort of capital you get more than that.
