Binnington has been inconsistent but mostly fine and I don't think the Blues are giving up on him (rightly or wrongly). But even if the Blues were done with him they would have to find a take him off the roster before trading for another goalie making starting money. Also trading for Lehner at this stage is a bit of a risk after his injury issues last year and then missing all of this year.

So knowing that, don't really see the appeal on the Blues side. 1st round pick is nice but nothing else is really there.

Martinez is a cap dump to Chicago. You'll need to pay us, and it'll be a decent amount considering he has a cap hit of +$5M

CHI shouldn't accept that trade. If the LVK want to clear our $5M+ in cap space it'll cost something. I'm not even saying he's terrible at hockey... It's just the Hawks are NOT cup contenders. They're going to be sellers at the TDL. Getting better at the TDL isn't really in their best interest.

No reason for Alec Martinez to leave Vegas for the likes of Chicago.

Binnington could be done in St Louis, But trading for a Robin Lehner who can't stay healthy and has some issues. And he's likely done from what was reported at the time of his injury.

The cost of dumping 2 years at 5.25 each is a lot more than a 3rd round pick.

Blues aren't going to invest $11m in our goalie situation for 2+ seasons.

A first and a prospect for a couple months of Tarasenko isn't bad. I'd rather have another prospect or possibly a 2nd/3rd than Lehner.

For what conceivable reason would Binnington be done in St. Louis? This trade is beyond laughable on numerous levels.

I think you misread it, it's not the cost of dumping, it's the cost of acquiring.

Assuming Chicago is not on Martinez's no trade list, I can't see Chicago actually paying to get Martinez, they're better off with the picks.

It's a decent offer for Carrier, but NSH doesn't have the RD depth to consider it.
