What on Earth is that Devils trade? Absolutely not, Devils decline.

This is literally a player that you were just paid a first to take on. Do you really think you'd get a first and a good prospect for him?

Not much realistic about those trades. Over valuing all your players.

Devils won't spend a 1st on a rental. Period. Fitz has said just that.

Flames don't consider that. Josh Anderson makes far too much for far too long to provide far too little. And Calgary is in a cap crunch next summer

You obviously haven't seen him play. We were paid to take the contract so CGY could sign Kadri, they were in a crunch and didn't want to take the chance of Monahan not returning to form. He has so far appeared to have returned mostly to form so if he can remain healthy and this productive then yes, I fully do expect to return a 1st for him 50% retained. A prospect would be a delight to add as well but I fully expect a minimum of a 1st as a real possibility.

Is NJD the right fit? Not likely, but that doesn't change the ask or the value.

It's not what you think he's worth but what teams are willing to give up keep this trade in the unrealistic category

bro he has 10 points in 18 games, is a shell of his former self, has average/bag underlying numbers, and is made of glass.

His true (and perceived) value is not a first and if Hughes can get one, he should be GM of the year.

Actually it kind of is what we think he's worth? We can always choose to keep him and try to resign him as we've already netted a 1st out of it lol if nobody wants to pay then they can shop elsewhere...

1. Devils don’t do cap dumps.
2. Monahan isn’t worth a 1st or Foote
3. Devils don’t need a rental center (have about 8 on our team now)
4. Devils don’t need an AHL dman

Send Caufield instead

Correct, that would be an overpayment. Good thing Hughes isn't a Dubas eh?

I still have yet to see how that could be a negative thing? It's not like we're gonna resign him to a franchise deal lol we'll still win another cup before the Devils no matter what we do anyway

Who's overpaid? Our MVP / Rocket Richard C? Our Captain? Our top D man that took a lesser salary than he would have got on the open market? Our 200 ft RW who kills penalties, is top 5 in assists over the past 3 year? Our 80pt Swede?
Let's look at Price and Gally who were paid for past performance..........Let's look at Hoffman, Armia, Drouin, Byron, Dvorak...........all overpaid for what they do. Yes, their contracts aren't as high as Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander and Reilly, but we get a hell of a lot more value from those guys.

And for all that value, you must've performed well in the playoffs...right? For all the MTL players you listed, no way they helped bring MTL to the SCF did they? Oh and one more thing, Hughes didn't sign them so your rebuttal is irrelevant. Hughes signed Dach, looking pretty good there... Hughes signed a few prospects to ELCs, also looking pretty good.

All your millions to a few players and basically nothing to show for it, yes that's something to brag about.

Price did for sure. I'm a big fan, and really hope he gets to play again. But MTL gave him that huge contract for what he had done previously and the fact that he took less money on his prior contract. Price got them to the SCF. The others may have chipped in here or there, but there was a lot of luck involved too.

Another cup? You're acting as if you've won one recently. Devils have won 3 since Montreal last lifted ole Stanley.
