This isn’t really a rebuild - the team just sucks.

No incentive for Detroit to make that trade. Pass.

Zacha as your 1C...yikes, that's a recipe for disaster. They're better off trying to move some money out and try signing Horvat, if he becomes a UFA.

The thing about a Bruins rebuild is their need to stay competitive. You may be right but in making these moves you gain two second round picks, and Anaheims will be a very early second. A full rebuild would be foregoing these signings and giving guys like Stankoven 20+.

Can’t see us trading our 3C and 33OA for a guy with concussion problems

Right, but you found a middle ground here where you made the team really bad, and didn’t really get much in terms of futures for the rebuild. Trading marchand is a pretty bad idea - despite stankoven being an absolutely awesome name.

Don’t have the cap. Stankoven is going to be very good and is cost controlled. Dallas also doesn’t have the defense to be going all in

The super undersized forward that puts up points in the CHL being good in the NHL is the exception, not the rule.

Anaheim is in no position to trade pick 33 away. At best the Bruins could hope to get their own 2nd back in this trade. I would do the BOS 2023 2nd plus a prospect like Brayden Tracey for Carlo.

I'm less convinced, guy has had multiple bad concussions so far and he's only 25. We need a guy we can rely on.

That's fair. I like Carlo a decent amount and he checks a lot of the boxes for me so I have some bias towards him.

You could be right. I’m a fan of his offensive instincts tho. And adding that much cap at the forward position is still a bad move for Dallas imo

….it’s brad marchand.

He’s been a top five forward in the NHL for the last five years and his cap hit is tiny compared to that production.

Which is why Boston says no too. They’re not shopping him. And even if they were the price tag would be too high for Dallas to reasonably consider. Which is why both sides say no. Just my two cents. I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said

If it’s a reasonable offer maybe dallas says no. If it’s this they’re doing cartwheels in the front office.

That’s fair. But then you have to remember they’d be giving up more in a separate deal to clear out bad cap. They need to do that anyways but that’s a different conversation lol
