what letter grade would you give for Kerfoot's ability to play center... consider the past too since ik he's struggling. This may be worth considering if he can play C and would resign under 3m

As a center I'd give Kerfoot a D. I think we could easily find a better choice for 3C.

He is serviceable as a fill in for injuries at center if given good linemates, but i wouldn't want him playing center otherwise.

Why would TOR want to swap Kerfoot for Garland? Garland isn't performing any better right now and is signed for more for longer.

he's a really bad fit in vancouver but would fit a lot better in toronto.
he's also snakebitten. has had 2 goals called back on challenges and just not much goes his way.

i guess its a risk for you guys but the stats dont tell the whole story here.

Both of these seem very reasonable. Im a huge advocate for trading for both of these guys, this lineup would be so fun

Don't understand the premise "Adding scoring depth." Fact is Kerfoot and Engvall have near identical scoring as do Garland and PJ. I know so many don't like Kerfoot's 3,5m expiring contract, but geez why would the Leafs want 4.9 Garland for this season and three more full seasons.

He's generally much better on the wing.

Jesse P is about as far away from scoring depth as a player gets. Garland isn't the guy the leafs need or want for the term.

He can play centre but I doubt any team will get him below 3 million. He’s probably gonna get 4x5 or 5x4. Something in that rebate because of his versatility and he does put up 40-50 points.

Cap is going on and Garland will be a 50-60 point guy on the Leafs.

JP is good player but is being utilized incorrectly. Look at how Toronto turned Mikheyev and Hyman into great depth scorers. Same will be done with JP but he has more upside.

He good defensive centre and transition is just that in the offensive zone he’s sometimes a black hole.

His forechecking is elite I would say

If Garland has a fair contract at almost 5 million, how does Kerfoot produce the same (Last year and this year have been identical production wise) play more positions and kill penalties and make less?

The funniest part of all this is the Leafs are paying a 2nd, Mete and Engvall to have less goals scored on the season. Engvall is better than Pulli and Kerfoot is producing as much as Garland for less money.

So how does this improve anything?

Okay but Kampf hasn’t produced like he does now in Chicago system.

Toronto like wingers that strong forecheckers that can drive play. Both Garland and Puljujarvi are that and points will come for them playing in Toronto.

The reason JP hasn’t worked out in Edmonton is because Edmonton is scores mostly on special teams and not 5v5. I don’t think JP isn’t on PP1

Engvall doesn't get much PP time, Kerfoot even less. And yet they produce and do so while being extremely good defensively. This is all around poor. Costs more money and assets to not get more production.
